Dear Guru's from Tyre Talk,

Besides of having a better comfort ride and cost effectiveness what is the pro and con of downgrading the rim and tyre size? I'm planning to downgrade mine but not too sure whether it's a right decision. Of course my main intention is for comfort and as well as do not need to worry when crossing potholes.

Also if I were to downgrade to 195/65/15 are there any recommended rubbers which fits perfectly in this category? thinking of yokohama C Drive 2.

Besides that, the main pro is it might be lighter (assuming your 17 is normal ones, not those lightweight ones). So it will improve your acceleration & fuel consumption a little.
The con is smaller foot print and less stiffness so will have less grip and it might not look as nice.

Btw in order to maintain about the same diameter, you should use 205/60/15 instead.

May b u can try 205/50/17 for less bumpier ride. Rather then go to 15 inch or alternatiEly, try 205/55/16.

Already downgraded to 15" from 17". Some noticeable improvements.
1) Crawling speed. Every time releasing my foot from the brake it obviously crawl faster. I believe the acceleration had increase as well i assume?
2) Handling. Obviously it improve as well. Despite on 195/65/15 but how can you compare Yoko C Drive 2 to Silverstone Synergy M5? Synergy M5 is really crappy.. the grip was terrible on both wet and dry.. On the way back from kuantan it produce some screeching sound which gave me a shock. shakehead.gif That's when i decided must get rid of the tires.
3) Potholes? fear no more biggrin.gif

That's all for now.

15" 195/65/15 0% off
16" 205/55/16 0.4% off
17" 215/45/17 0.8% off

speedo different is about 1.5km/h slower than actual speed.
better 'crawling' speed due to lighter 15" wheels.
mdps may feel 'numb' than before but driving over potholes should be a breeze.

Hehe . 1.5km I think not much difference but yeah going potholes is awesome. Raining cats and dogs outside going over puddle of waters and can still feel my steering wheel.
