Oh my.. this is a very good start for stock MF680 and 3420.

I don't think you need any tweak yet.  biggrin.gif

Very nice speed on Sunday evening which usually most of us here only got 'congested speed'.  tongue.gif

Your 3420 is v1 or v2? Have you tweak it?

Just bougt mf680 from blacktubi and then bought tp link 3240. Just plugged the zte into the 3420 (did not install from cd or make any changes) and this is the speed I got in Jalan Gasing:

How can I improve the upload speed?

my 3420 is version 2.1 bought rm80 from Czone. Not only haven't tweaked (no idea how at this stage) but I also have not configured it which normally one should for new router. I just plugged in the zte expecting it won't work out of the box but it did. All I had to get was the key for wifi which is printed on the base of the 3420.
*
oh, didn't know got v2.1, mine one is v2.0. I upgraded firmware when out of box, not much to configure after that. Speed is capped @ 8mbps, can't find out why so. Normal speed with only modem is 15mbps.

Added on January 6, 2013, 5:13 pmOO , just check label under modem, it's v2.1. Can you help me check your firmware number in admin panel?

my firmware may not be the latest; it's out-of-the-box. i may not want to upgrade. i will try a few days to see how stable it is. So far so good.
I flashed to your firmware version, reset to default values. Now my mr3420 is running full speed @ 15~20mbps again. Thanks biggrin.gif

yeah, really good one. Been searching the solution few days, no body knows what causes this. Luckily your different firmware gave me an idea to flash back to older firmware.

MEANING, the older FW is much better than the newer FW ?

the SPEED rite ?

thanks
*
Not sure. Maybe I screwed up setting in somewhere. I should reset to factory default before I flash back to older firmware.

You should RESTORE after you have done the Flashing.

Key in the new 3G settings again.
*
yeap, i've done that after flashing the firmware. Router auto find Maxis settings, so no problem with that.

so your experience tells me I should not upgrade to the latest firmware! Thanks.
*
Nope, you should try it. Flashing modem is really easy, it takes like 1 minute to do it. Can flash back to older version if not satisfied. I probably just screwed up settings and didn't restore to factory default settings.

sorry i fail to understand you - what is the difference between usage and quota?
*
Let's make an analogy.
Maxis gives you 10 appples (quota) per month, you ate 4 apples(usage), you left 6 apples. If you wanna eat more than 10 apples, you have to pay extra $$.

much easier to understand for people that doesnt know the meaning..but do u know now..it it unlimited quota but with capped speed? need to say this

Maxis gives you 10 appples (quota) per month, you ate 4 apples(usage), you left 6 apples. If you wanna eat more than 10 apples, you can only get the apple seed tongue.gif
*
since he wanna know about meaning of quota and usage, I think that's good enough explaination for him smile.gif

It's easy to explain unlimited quota with capped speed too.
Maxis offers you an apple buffet drool.gif rclxm9.gif , eat as many as you want (unlimited quota). But there is a catch, Maxis limit you to take only 1 apple for every 5 minutes. (capped speed) biggrin.gif

I check the *136*9#, it shows :
"Subscribed Plan: Monthly Unlimited plan. Your limit is: 30,720.0MB. Current usage: 4,564.0MB. Balance: 26,156.0MB.

So they limit 30GB usage now. Crap...I just subscribed for 1 week only....
