I am quite confused here. Do workouts with heavy weights really can make you stop growing taller? I am still short around 5' 5" but I want to grow taller but in the same time, I want to have a good muscular body but obviously not so muscular like the hardcore or extreme bodybuilders.

No it won't. But injuries to cartilage and growth plates will.
And if you do remain short, it's nothing to do with the weightlifting.

weightlifting is a type of resistance training, so it encourage more growth instead of stopping it.
