Btw I heard about a lot of overheating problems.
Solution: Switch HDD to SSD? And anyone here tried playing Battlefield 3 on the Y580 here? This post has been edited by totallagness: Jan 16 2013, 11:44 AM |

Guys, I have been reading up a lot of bugs happening on this laptop(Y580), anyone got the graphics bug for a local machine(defective GPU)? Most of the bugs were reported by people who bought from Lenovo.com itself.

Been seeing a lot of people with defective graphics card after buying it. Like testing the laptop in 3dMark can cause weird lines appearing. Oh and some people's laptop can't play any games, it would just crash. Based on their answers, they have tried beta drivers and the stock driver. |

QUOTE(xyz_cityhunter @ Jan 21 2013, 08:25 AM) Hm, any Y580 users here that's playing a lot of Dota2? Just encounter some minor issue after playing around 3 hours of Dota2, i saw the background(the burning fire) behind the main page will be lagging and when i type some msg also will see some lag with the time i type and the time the msg appear on screen... Weird that just right before that page, i was in game and there's no apparent lag at all... QUOTE(mengfart @ Jan 21 2013, 09:43 AM) yup. happens to me too. That happens to most of my friends and me too.Played for few continuous hour then the main menu will start to lag. but when in game no lag. need restart dota 2 to fix the issue. And we're using PC. It's the client's issue, no problems with your laptops. |

After using my Y580 for 2 weeks, I love it so much, it works well with almost every game I throw at it. (Currently playing Dead Space 3 on High with good framerates. Sadly the laptop can't play Alan Wake with SSAO on high. It will drop framerates when there's too much light.)
Only problem with it is the boot up time, 1 minute++. Must be too many bloatware. Gonna try removing them soon. This post has been edited by totallagness: Feb 18 2013, 09:56 AM |

QUOTE(phantom_zero @ Feb 18 2013, 10:58 AM) Btw do I need to get a 1.8" SSD or even a normal 2.5" SSD works? Cause I have not opened the bottom of my laptop ... yet.EDITS: One other thing I remembered, the temperatures increase real fast when gaming, my left hand was hurting from the heat coming from the left side of the keyboard, was playing Dota 2 during that time, so I had to have my hand on the keyboard. If only the heat was coming from the right side of the keyboard instead, then it wouldn't be that bad as I don't have my hand over there. QUOTE(mrl @ Feb 18 2013, 09:02 PM) At first i played on this setup as well and no need to say much, it is very uncomfortable for hand to withstand that heat especially for someone that comes from desktop scene... i will recommend external keyboard if you game for long time... i myself pick up nostromo in the end to avoid the heat... Cool, was planning to get a Nostromo but then I worry about the setup. I use legacy keys on Dota 2 for a reason. MIGHT get the Nostromo if I ever get to try it out, sadly I have yet to see a single shop demo-ing any Razer products. Except for Blitzone using Abyssus. |

QUOTE(mrl @ Feb 19 2013, 10:05 AM) for Dota 2, I dont know if Nostromo is suitable... it can be if you're willing to spend some time configuring the Nostromo to your liking... the lack of keys is what makes it a little bit painful in competitive and fast pace games, I guess... Logitech keypad has more keys but it's use more or less the same with Nostromo... Yea the Orbweaver costs about RM400+, not going for that. I might get the Nostromo for my FPS games instead. Thanks for the info.if configuring, testing and getting used to new config is not your thing, I'd say stay away from keypads and get full keyboard instead... having an x-input compatible gamepads (xbox360 gamepad for windows) is the more reason to stay away from Nostromo as it has some driver conflicts against few numbers of games... plus the latest driver isn't compatible with Windows 8 that you'll need an older driver to run it on Win8 and I dont think Razer is going to release a Windows 8 compatible driver ever given their reputation with softwares and the newly release Orbweaver.... so, if you still want a keypad get the latest Orbweaver (which is uber expensive) or get the logitech's keypad (i dont know if it's still in the market)... else, go for full keyboard... that's my suggestion... Another question, I'm fairly new to the area of SSDs, didn't had any use for them back then so I didn't research on it much. So to insert a SSD into my Y580 (without removing my main HDD), I have to get a mSATA and insert into the empty PCI-E slot right? Anything else I need to do? QUOTE(eternalpulse @ Feb 20 2013, 04:01 PM) If full set den comes with both adaptors, but some sellers are selling the cheaper version (without second GC but with DVD drive). Since my budget a bit tight, i tot i'll buy the lite version first, den buy second GC when need performance boost. But that also means i dont get the 170W adaptor.. Hmmm... recommendations maybe? I wonder of this works for the Y580, hmmmm. |
