The guys in Lowyat is really pushing y580 yesterday when I went. with a blueray drive asking rm3400++. At that price I would rather get the y500. Just wondering if there is any msata ports in the y500 and if yes can we use it when buying local set? Original reboot times are not very attractive so it either msata or change to SSD.

wah... that one is the old set....
should be 1 msata port in y500..  unsure.gif  unsure.gif

That was my question as there any msata ports in the y500. Seems it does not come with any msata card. I intended to add one when I purchase it.

Overall the y500 is a handsome looking notebook. Feels very solid.

I've been searching for Blu-Ray and can't find any. All selling DVD.

Now suddenly, Blu Ray come out..  vmad.gif  vmad.gif  vmad.gif

Did you check SriComputer? Seems that is all they have y580 with blueray drive. Quite pointless cause I've not use a disc (cd/dvd/blueray etc) with a computer for the past few years.

Hello guys, I am planning to buy Y480 with the following specs :
i7-3610QM + Nvidia GT650(GDDR5)@RM2499[JBL], 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), backlit keyboard, FreeDOS

I have a few questions, hope someone can help me with this, gonna head to lowyat this week :
1) I am planning to upgrade the 4GB ram to 8GB because I am using this laptop for gaming / multitasking ( like editing video/photo ), roughly about how much will the upgrade cost ?

2) At the same time, I maybe will upgrade the 500GB HDD to 1TB if available. About how much will it cost ?

3) Y480 with this specs should be able to run all of the modern games with medium settings and smooth right ? ( if not all then most , e.g COD : MW3 , Battlefield 3, Crysis 2, Hitman Absolution)

4) Any good reputation shop in lowyat recommended ?
*
Good luck if you can find y480. More likely you will end up with y400............... whistling.gif

Perhaps WOT don't support SLI?
Not every game is compatible with SLI.

U can try this:
Set SLi Enable as on and set power management mode on World of Tanks to "prefer maximum performance", then set the Lenovo Energy Management profile to Dynamic graphic mode (if got this program and must set if got)

Thanks will try tomorrow when get back notebook. Sent to Lenovo cause bought mSata and need them to reinstall windows for me.

Is Y500 slightly better than Y580 in terms of Gaming because of the SLI?

I will have to say that you have the option of SLI. Been playing with it over the weekend and only can say it handles everything I throw at it with ease in high or ultra settings.
