QUOTE(FauxHawk @ Dec 19 2012, 04:35 AM) I wish the Y580 came with more space to put a second drive, so I can have both a HDD and SSD. Their option of using a small SSD isn't worth it *eh, I can buy a mSATA SSD from outside and use as standalone dive right? First time I asked the guy, he said the 32gb SSD is only for a speed boost, not as a standalone drive Thinking of getting the Crucial M4 mSATA You can replace the original HDD location with SSD(to avoid hdd high temp. between the CPU/GPU)(window OS on SSD), and move the original HDD to ODD location with hdd caddy. ODD use usb cable as external drive. This post has been edited by arju: Dec 19 2012, 12:42 PM

QUOTE(mrl @ Dec 25 2012, 06:22 AM) I heard that Y500 has better cooling... though, if you care about performance but dont want to mess with SLI config, take single GPU GTX660M Y580... but if you are willing to wait for latest driver, keep on updating for better optimization, you can always go to Y500 GT650M SLI... hows the heat dissipate for your y580, do you swap your hdd to odd location to improve the heat?

Y580 -come with preinstall Win8(latest model offer currently) or downgrade to Win7. What is missing in Win8 that Win7 had? in terms of lenovo offer functionality and soft/game compatibility.
Win8 > Win7 or Win7>Win8

Y580 improve cooling option which one better 1) Buy mSata SDD install, HDD to caddy ODD, leave the original HDD location empty 2) Buy SSD ans swap with HDD location. move HDD to caddy ODD.

QUOTE(SELRYC @ Jan 8 2013, 11:42 AM) Just tested my Y580 with the bottom cover removed and put on the cooler. HDD idle 39c. GPU idle 42c. CPU idle 42-50c. When playing games (tested with World of Tanks on High settings) HDD load 44c. GPU load 61c. CPU load 58-61c. Well....not bad,hmmm... your HDD in ODD bay or original HDD location. Anyone tested with SSD in HDD location
