QUOTE(kuroneko0509 @ Dec 28 2012, 07:18 PM) which recovery type you picked? based on my y580, there's 3 option... funny my onekey ver8 doesn't have the 3rd option... nvm, now try install fresh using iso...1. recovery disc with existing backup image 2. recovery disc with current system 3. factory default recovery disc normally would pick the 3rd option, then they will not ask which image file path |

QUOTE(mrl @ Dec 29 2012, 02:58 AM) Do you have a working copy of Win8 ISO? (legal, I'm not suggesting ahem here) Will try research on the Option 1 as I have already tried on getting the key from the Option 3 but when i tried to download the ISO, the Win8 ISO Download software says that "This product key cannot be used to install retail version of Windows 8"... If so, burn the ISO into DVD, install SSD and install normally as other windows... I know the name is "Win8 Upgrade" but I have been able to do clean installation from there... I would say do clean installation... Those Lenovo stuff will give you a lot of headache later on... Clean installation, and install manually all the lenovo stuff... However, there's 2 alternatives I can think of... Option 1. Using Win8 recovery itself. Use the search function (Charms bar > Search) and search for "Recovery" under Settings. Click on Recovery. You can create Win8 Recovery Disc from there... I dont know what's in there, I've never been there before, hopefully it will help. Option 2. Contact Lenovo or the shop that you bought your laptop, obtain your product key so that you can download new ISO from Microsoft. Option 3. Google for win8 product key finder so you can obtain your product key and download new ISO from Microsoft. Both option 2 and 3 will make you lose your Lenovo apps and special function, but you can download them back from Lenovo site. After config everything, you can make an image using 3rd party disc imaging apps so that it can easily be restored without re-install everything. QUOTE(tennytyy @ Dec 29 2012, 10:22 AM) Ok, will try on that but for this imaging from 500GB HDD to 240GB SSD, i heard that the original Windows one the HDD lacks some configuration files for the SSD to perform well, is that true? |

QUOTE(mrl @ Dec 29 2012, 11:27 AM) Burn the ISO into a DVD (or USB drive if you want), boot from the drive and proceed installation as usual... when asked which drive to install, select the drive and format it... The retail is the Win8 that comes with the laptop... if you upgrade from Win7 then it's not retail i think...hhmmm... i guess this is new coz if I remember correctly on Win7 we can do something like that regardless of license... maybe that's the reason there's no more OEM licensed version, replaced with System Builder version... hhmmm... I start to feel like Win8 is not friendly if like this, more advantage to the OEM ready build systems, but not exactly friendly with custom build PC? wait, does that mean the upgrade version that we have for Y580/Y480 is retail? or the one downloaded through Upgrade Advisor is properly licensed for OEMs? |

QUOTE(lee_what2004 @ Dec 29 2012, 08:40 PM) I dun think it even have one... QUOTE(ndragon @ Dec 29 2012, 08:48 PM) that is in win7 or win8... my win8 i got every driver installed.. just that my bluetooth not working properly.. but i think my y580 bluetooth also has similar problem in win7.. I tried to push a mp3 from my phone to laptop via bluetooth and it works on both Win7 and Win8... my driver is Qualcomm Atheros AR3012 Bluetooth 4.0 + HS on Win7...i got all my win8 driver here: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-Y-U-V-...ers/td-p/902751 EDIT: Manage to narrow down the problem, it's indeed the bluetooth, maybe some extra feature... Found way to check it on http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/how-to-find-u...ndor-device-id/ And the software i use: http://www.halfdone.com/ukd/ This post has been edited by xyz_cityhunter: Dec 29 2012, 10:25 PM |
