My school is having another trials next week using the state paper(actually this week but I lazy to go cos of less important subjects). So far I have worked out on my Science subjects. After next week planning to go into accounts. I have not been revising it frequently and the effects were clear during my trials. Furthermore, accounts is on the first week of SPM.  sweat.gif

Critical_Fallacy

Just wanted to thank you for what you've done . Thank you for igniting the spark of curiosity towards more complex mathematical ideas that have never even occurred to me before . A part of my results , whatever they may be ; I owe them to you . I also benefited a lot from your advice on studying Biology using key-words . My Paper 2 marks shot from low 80's or high 70's to 94/100 , which was a first for me . I no longer need to rely on long , drawn out paragraphs of facts in thick reference books , and teachers mark using key-words as well .

I am currently in a very busy , frustrating , challenging , exciting and nerve-wrecking stage in my life . Currently scrambling to fit in all the History facts , Moral exercises and BM points for karangan into my cerebral cortex , and printing out trial papers , which is costly and time-consuming .

But I figured it's only temporary . Whatever may happen , I know that I'll come out stronger .

So , thank you ! Exciting times ahead . My inner-nerdiness can't wait for A-Level Mathematics and Physics , and more time to read books that I have no time for .

Mind explaining the 'key word' method you use? Cause now what I am doing is partly memorising all the answer for all types of essays they can ask.

QUOTE(maximR @ Oct 4 2013, 08:17 PM)
example :

Explain the function of R ( contractile vacuole in Paramecium ) . [ 5 marks ]

R maintains osmotic pressure .
Water diffuses into R by osmosis .
R expands to maximum size .
R moves to side of plasma membrane .
R contracts to expel excess water .

Very easy example . You are probably using the F and E method of remembering points for essay questions . F is the main skeleton , E are the explanations to the skeleton . But a very interesting method proposed in MRSM's Biology mark schemes is the ' Science Text ' method . Basically there are two alternatives when writing answers for structured/essay questions in P2 . Here's an example :

Heavy metals contain respiratory inhibitors . Explain the effects of respiratory inhibitors on Paramecium sp . [ 2m ]

Standard Method [ F and E method ]

( Respiratory inhibitors ) inhibit cellular respiration / mitochondria cannot function [F]
Energy cannot be generated [E]
Cellular respiration / active transport cannot be carried out [E]
Contractile vacuole cannot function ( to remove excess water ) [E]
Paramecium dies / bursts / haemolyses [E]

The main point is cellular respiration ceases or mitochondria fail to function . The explanations / effects of it are the E's .

The ' Science Text ' method is described as follows .

o - object
c - condition
p - process/phenomenon
r - result

O1 - ( Respiratory inhibitors )
C/P1 - Inhibit cellular respiration / mitochondria cannot function
C/P2 - Energy cannot be generated / active transport cannot occur
C/P3 - Contractile vacuole cannot contract ( to remove excess water )
R - Paramecium dies / bursts / haemolyses

The second method is more organised , and you can see the process , while the latter method does not arrange the explanations in order . Both are accepted .

In both cases the answer and concise and succinct . This is the method that you should use to remember points for Biology P2 . Much better than long , drawn out explanations in reference books .

Wow I never know that. All the time, I was just memorising what points to put in if this type of question come out. An eye opener for me. I will try that in my coming mock exam

I am a little worried about my 1119 english. I heard that it will be marked by people from Cambridge university and people that get A+ may not get A1 for their 1119. I usually get 43+ from my school teacher but about 40 from my tuition teacher. He said my story a bit uninteresting and my plot not really that good. Help pls?

Have you tried doing trial papers for B.M ? Try out SBP 2013's Rumusan , and compare your answer to that in the mark scheme .

I'm working on BM , Biology and Moral solely because those are the subjects that trip candidates off from an A+ .
Some of the Prosa Klasik petikan's were quite challenging , and the words that they ask us to translate ; I've never heard of .
*
You should also try the MARA paper for karangan bahagian B. All the topics are quite hard and if I were to sit for it, I think I can only answer 1 of them.

I don't have a choice in the manner. My school is sending all the form 5s on a study leave for 2 weeks before SPM.
*
Wow that is so good of your school to officially give all of you two weeks leave. That will be quite useful. For me, I will skip a few days and go a few.

Ya, before I forget, how do you guys answer this type of question.

Huraikan 2 nilai yang diamalkan oleh Ali. (6 marks)
*
1st nilai+Kata kunci+Contoh
2nd nilai+Kata kunci+Contoh

You have to look at the marks allocated. The max marks for one nilai is 3 for structure questions, that is (Nilai)+(Kata kunci)+(Contoh). So, if they ask for two nilai and 6 marks. You give contoh also.
But, if they ask to jelaskan 2 nilai and 4 marks are given, you just write like this (1st nilai)+(Kata kunci) and (2nd nilai)+(Kata kunci); contoh not required.

For BM komsas, I heard if the students' kbkk, persoalan, nilai and pengajaran answer are not same as the skema although they are rational will be wrong. My tuition teacher told me that dont be surprise if out of 40 candidate, only 5 will get correct.

So, how do you guys tackle Komsas part. Right now, I am doing trials paper to get familiarize with the accepted answers

This is how I do it in exercise books. The answer sheet also shows similar answering methods. I have to admit that I don't recall doing such questions in school though. But then again, my Moral teacher is not very experienced.

I am quite lucky this year to get a quite experienced moral teacher. Thanks to her, my moral improved. Last year, I dont really know how to answer for moral paper.

Many ! Even with candidates who scored 99-100 marks in Trials .  sad.gif

Wow never know that 99 in trials also could not guarantee and A+ for moral. Guess, moral is really a killer as so for BM and Bio. I dont think my moral teacher is an examiner but she constantly calls one of her friend who I supposed is a marker to give ceramah to us.
