Hey all,

My first post here and wanted to ask a few questions..

1. I live in KL, Malaysia and was just wondering where can I buy a xbox 360 Asian release here? and what price tag would I be looking at for the Asian version?

2. What warrenty does the xbox 360 have here, I got an email response from playasia saying its 6months.

3. Can I play my AUS DVD's (PAL) on the xbox asian version, also my TV is PAL?

Thanks in advance...

i just ask the same question last week.... and in the end i got myself japan version xbox 360... my advise... get it from Singapore...

sadly if "touch wood" anything happen to the Xbox 360 will need to courier "at our own expense" to Japan for repair... or maybe can bring to Singapore and hope they will take in for repair...

some of the members here pre-order their Xbox 360 in Singapore.. which will be launching on 16th March 2006...

i believe the Singapore version will be NTSC version which i think both ur DVD and TV won't be able to support... unless your TV can switch from NTSC and PAL then it is a different story..

Are u a Malaysian...coz people dont usually mentioned that they lives/from here coz this forum basically r Malaysian base. The Asian console would only be officially launched around March 16 at Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore..as such u cant get it at the moment..for now! Try to looked for one after March 16 or get it from Singapore.

Dont think so...but then u can never be to sure until we can get our hands on one.

Btw..there's a guy over here whose selling his Core unit of PAL version if u dont mind buying 2nd hand unit.

2 years back when i was based in Japan...

before purchasing Xbox there, i ask them about warranties in Malaysia... their reply was...

"Sorry bla bla bla.... since Xbox was not officially launched in Malaysia i need to courier the Xbox back to the store in Japan i purchase the Xbox from and they will do the warranties"

No! Im not Malaysian, but Im working here so I need some entertainment at home biggrin.gif

Anyway, I sent an email to the playasia website and their reply was "That we offer a 6 month warrenty on the Xbox 360"

Furthermore, Im a bit confused here, I thought Malaysia was PAL (like my TV)? then how come the asian 360 version is NTSC...? Need a bit of clarification here for a techie...

I think I will wait till April and see if they launch the Xbox Asia/NTSC version here. If they dont; then I will get it from PlayAsia.com.

Will also email MS on the warrenty thing. (Will keep you updated)

Finally, my only concern is PAL TV and NTSC xbox360..Im pretty sure an NTSC xbox 360 can work on PAL TV. Cause I remember Xbox 1 had this option where you could select what TV type you had in Video settings menu.

Take Care

I'm pretty sure the warranty only applies to the country you purchased in. MS isn't a big hardware company so it's unlikely they'd have worldwide warranty for somethign.

....probably Japan is the core of it, since japan is using NTSC/j, microsoft just category us as ntsc/j.

Xb360 launch in malaysia? Don't wait man, that's not gona happen within the next 4 years...China is getting it but not us.

Hi John, thumbup.gif

Thats ok I wont wait; but I was hoping atleast the stores here would start selling the Asia/NTSC version by then (April). I also had a chat with some shopkeepers at Low Yat but they all had a japanese version and werent aware of the Asian/NTSC being launched..

Anyway, I think I will get mine from Playasia and let the Gods take care of warrenty and general well being. Has anyone ordered from Playasia before are they reliable? They seem like a pretty good crew...

Anyway back to work, more later!

Do you think they will have Asian units here by April? If so then I dont have to order online and I can just get it form here.

Finally do you recommend any shops for getting a xbox 360..? Support wise? Cause Im willing to pay extra few bucks to know that my console isnt one that fell from the back of the truck tongue.gif

Yeah, the terestrial TV signals in Malaysia are PAL, TVs in Malaysia are supposed to be PAL. But nowadays TVs can pretty much support both NTSC/PAL, I remember even back in the PS1 days, TVs sold here are already supporting NTSC. So unless your TV is really old (a damn good reason to get an HDTV tongue.gif), it should support both NTSC or PAL xbox360, your only concern is which region xbox to buy.

As for your DVDs, i suggest u go get one of those RM90+ DVD players from Tesco or Giant, they'll play any region DVD u throw at them.
