QUOTE(raymondtong94 @ Apr 7 2013, 08:16 PM) RE - comes with 15" and 17" full HD screen. processor only upgradeable. (most affordable) thank you ... RS - comes with 15" and 17" full HD screen. processor and graphics card upgradeable. (average pricing but better performance) RX - 17" full HD screen only, processor and graphics card upgradeable with SLi or CrossFireX option. (less affordable but best performance) RE should be good for my mom as she doesn't need a performance laptop ... my budget around RM 4.5 K .. but may be extend for warranty purposes with the 3 years warranty, I don't have to be afraid for what happened within the next 3 years .. or 2 years is enough? QUOTE(Dbassnut @ Apr 11 2013, 01:20 PM) Hi Prince, Can you share the link?I am thinking of getting an Asus G75 or RS-17 from Illegear. I have a few questions though. 1. For either computer, I will need to get an OS, either Win7 or Win8. Is the OS supplied OEM or retail (Can I transfer the license to another computer if the laptop died on me & I needed to buy a new one)? I understand that OEM license cannot be transferred to a new laptop. 2. I saw some Clevo/Sager reviews on a similar laptop to the RE-17 & they were talking about keyboard lag. In the event I face this problem, would this be covered by the warranty? I'm planning to use this laptop for work & gaming.[ 3. Both laptops are heavy, but can they stand up to being moved around on a daily basis? How durable are they? & no, I won't be using it as a basketball but I don't want a laptop that doesn't travel well. Weight isn't a problem. 4. The RE-17 looks really nice but the NVidia GC is a little pricey. Could I down grade to an cheaper NVidia GC & later upgrade? Thanks, Thank you |

QUOTE(Prince J @ Apr 11 2013, 11:21 PM) Hi, thank you for the clarification 1. OEM Windows cannot be transferred, but we can supply you retail version too. 2. RE-17 is built on W370ET and there is no ghosting issue on it. 3. ASUS G75VX is about 4.5kg, RS-17 is about 3.9kg and RE-17 is about 3.2kg. All of them have passed the drop test and they are very durable. 4. RE-17 cannot upgrade/downgrade its GC, if you mean RS-17 yes you can upgrade/downgrade your GC in future because it has MXM connector. |

Hi, last night I've email support to ask about the maximum RAM that can be insert into my precious RE-17 (Windows 8, 64 bit). Thanks to the quick customer service reply, it was good to know that it can support up to maximum 24GB and no warranty will be void if the upgrade is taken under care:
However, since I'm lack of knowledge about upgrading a laptop: 1) This laptop used SDRAM or SODIIM? 2) can I use this high performance RAM? I would like to provision two 8GB x 2 of this RAM below : Vengeance® — 16GB High Performance Laptop Memory Upgrade Kit (CMSX16GX3M2A1866C10) ![]() Spec: Density: 16 GB (2x8 GB) Speed: 1866 MHz Timing: 10-11-10-30 Limited Lifetime Warranty Otherwise, there are other 1600 Mhz standard version such as: Vengeance® — 16GB High Performance Laptop Memory Upgrade Kit (CMSX16GX3M2A1600C10) ![]() Thank you for the advice This post has been edited by Irzani: Feb 16 2014, 04:15 PM |
