Hi mr docter,

Please don't mix up our products with sager. Although sager and illegear are literally the same in terms of build, quality and even from the same manufacturer, illegear laptop is assembled for Malaysia distribution.

We, as a Malaysia distributor, all warranty repairs are served locally. Please visit http://www.illegear.com/warranty for our warranty info. and repair time frame.

Thanks for the clarification man notworthy.gif
The repair time frame, if adhered to, is very impressive thumbup.gif

May I know where are the service centers bro? Sorry if I've missed out in the link notworthy.gif

Hi fixgd,

We only offer 11.6", 15.6" and 17.3" models during 2012 and first quarter of 2013. You will be seeing more and more 13.3" and 14" ILLEGEAR laptops coming in very near future.

Yeah, powerful 13-14" notebooks would be nice rclxms.gif

We will have some dedicated resellers in KL and PJ areas. smile.gif

But resellers are not involved with repairs right bro? hmm.gif
Looking at the range of notebooks illegear is offering is making me think twice about getting a desktop again tongue.gif

All repairs are done by ILLEGEAR's staff using genuine parts. Note that there is no third party service provider involving in the repairing procedure at the moment. We believe that nobody knows our products better than ourselves, that's why all ILLEGEAR repairs can be done promptly and effectively.

Yes you are right, the RX-17's Dual 7970M CrossFireX config can perform similar to desktop GTX 680 as per 3D Mark 11.

So at the end of the day we still need to send to Johor/Singapore for repairs? sad.gif

As I said, users can choose to send the laptop to the authorized reseller's shop or our head office at Johor via mail-in or carry-in method, please refer to the post previously.
*
Yeah, I've read that, which is why I suggested it will be nice to have a service center (not just resellers) in KL/PJ as well in the future smile.gif
Mailing to Johor will inevitably take time, thus increasing the repair time, even though you guys repair fast hmm.gif

Just wanted some clarifications~
And I know it is not easy to set up the entire network of shops for selling and also servicing nod.gif

Personally I don't like to rely on mail to send the notebooks laugh.gif Malaysian postage summore

How long does it take to ship a laptop both way?

As opposed to the other well known brands' vendor who have dedicated 3rd party service center in lowyat, how long does a laptop to be fixed in average?

We have sold over 1000 Sager laptops in last year, and I believe half of them are from this forum. No offence to anyone, but even our previous Sager repair which sent over U.S. are much much faster than average repair time frame in Malaysia, it's 2 to 4 weeks to have a sager fixed generally.

Lastly, I am just clarifying that there is nothing to do with the "center", but the service quality. No offence to anyone  smile.gif

That is good to hear man, I hope you guys can keep up the good work rclxms.gif
My previous experiences with Toshiba motherboard replacement is 2 months XD

Please do keep us posted lol, I'm interested in KL/PJ resellers~ laugh.gif

As mentioned, users can return the product to our authorized reseller's shop where they purchased from. I don't see any mailing needs to be done on user's end.
What we are gonna fix the laptop is the matter between us and the authorized reseller. As long as we can deliver the repaired product promptly, customers are happy.

Other service providers in your area do import parts to repair laptops, isn't this incurred a mailing? From oversea somemore. Imagine that you purchased a laptop with 1 year warranty and ends up fixing the laptop with 2 month plus, I think most of us will be unhappy.
*
Thanks for the input~

I was just wondering whether the resellers will send the entire notebook back to Johor/Singapore for repairs; or whether they will bring in parts from the service centres at Johor/Singapore and repair themselves. The idea of posting a notebook just seemed pretty risky to me (after seeing how most of the post ppl deal with those boxes haha)..
But then you are right, its none of my business anyways haha, as long as the repair time is fast, customers will be happy~ and I trust you guys will carry out your tasks professionally as always icon_rolleyes.gif

Just want to share my experience with illgear. I've bought a illgear RS-15 with some customization. In term of discount..I think I do get a lot..got a rm300 rebate, upgrade from 750GB to 1TB, upgrade on processor (from 17-3610 to i7-3720).

At the beginning I also worried about sending up the laptop via courier. So pick it up myself at Johor. They are pretty considerate since they wait me up until around 11pm or so.

After a while my laptop got a problem. I forward my problem to the illgear support team and trust me their respond is fast. So I sent it out to them in Johor via courier. It took them around 1 week or so to repair it since it is a major problem. They change my motherboard and graphic  card and I still got a valid warranty. They sent out my laptop via airpak courier in box full of padding.

All in all I do like their service. They are willing to explain everything and their respond is also fast (In my experience, if I compare to some shops, it would take them about a month or so to repair problems even simple problem like windows problem.yes..maybe they got a lot of laptop/computers to fix and that is where illgear is at advantage. They concentrate at their product so minimize time.)

If you are looking at customization laptop I would suggest Illgear compare to shops for sure.

p/s: i'm not paid by illgear to say all this I'm one of their valid customer.

Thanks for sharing man, that is good to hear thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

No comment on this.

But we actually found that a lot of professionals need plain and simple laptops, while the younger generation prefer something fancy.

Anyway Prince J, just wondering... since you have already introduced the Illegear models, wouldn't that compete with the Sager models you were originally selling? hmm.gif

Oh man I feel young haha laugh.gif

I thought you are 20+ only, no? biggrin.gif

There is no competition, ours are apparently better, in terms of pricing, quality, and warranty.

Let me explain in details, e.g.

1. we use Kingston RAM (lifetime warranty) and Western Digital hdd (5 year warranty). Which means that you are still covered by local HDD warranty even if your illegear warranty has expired.
Sager is using Patriot/ Samsung RAM, Seagate HDD, which doesn't come with any local warranty. Even so, illegear is still helping customers to claim warranty from Sager, but taken longer time frame (2 to 4 weeks).

2. Every ILLEGEAR machine is tested in manufacturer's factory, and tested again by our engineers using 48 hour burn-in test. The failure rate is the least in this industry.

3. Effective services. Take one example, we can go the customer's house (Johor and Singapore) to do repair.
*
Yeah, 20+, not old? lol

Man you should tag this in your main post, this is good info laugh.gif
1. Although RAM seldom spoils, it is good to know that there is warranty coverage for the HDD by you guys (it is often very hard for users to send the HDD in ourselves), and possibly the SSD (if customized)?

3. You should come and stay in KL/PJ haha, many customers here would love to have your on-site service tongue.gif

Second this  laugh.gif I always think the gaming laptop that I will feel most comfortable bringing into a corp world is the Asus G series. Hell, with the rubbery / charcoal look, if I do a bit of disguise, maybe can pass it off as a Thinkpad  laugh.gif
*
Turn off the all the AW lights, and you get a "ThinkPad" yo tongue.gif , not many people know AW in the business world anyway laugh.gif
But its a different story when outside in public... having Sager/Illegear (even better if the logo is removed) would definitely attract much, much lesser attention.. very useful in Malaysia laugh.gif

Yeah, I think illegear really needs some photos of its laptops laugh.gif
Advertised photos are usually very different from the actual units (because of all the editing and extra effects laugh.gif)

@Prince J, perhaps can add some in illegear's FB as well? hmm.gif

Met Prince J yesterday and received the illegear R-11.
There was a illegear box coming with it but I didn't want it because the box is big and it's for RS17/RX17. So, I only take the inner box which is the original packaging box from Clevo.

Tested battery and all the ports (except HDMI since I don't have a TV here), everything is working fine.

Will write a review either today or tomorrow smile.gif
Overall, I'm very satisfied with the size of the notebook
