Wah, many new and tempting stuffs from Illegear
Anyways, pricelist updated with the new RE-15 and RE-17! Seemed pretty worth it considering the new and powerful specs~ |

QUOTE(raymondtong94 @ Jun 11 2013, 11:09 PM) I've a feeling that with the current refreshed AW design and also Illegear's onsite support, AW is going to lose a lot of potential customers to Illegear liao Anyways, when are you buying? Waiting for Haswell? This post has been edited by [PF] T.J.: Jun 11 2013, 11:30 PM |

QUOTE(raymondtong94 @ Jun 11 2013, 11:33 PM) i guess so. but the magnesium alloy of AW looks tempting too. Hmm, I'm not really digging the design im planning to buy next year, even though i have the budget now. all is because of GTA 5. once it is released with newer generation chips (broadwell), my gaming attitude will come back to life, again and i will make a fast decision by the time. EDIT - i will be playing maple story only at the moment. Ahh, still a long time to go, no rush By that time there will be a lot more options already~ |

QUOTE(raymondtong94 @ Jun 11 2013, 11:51 PM) well, design doesnt matters, its the specs that i matter the most. Ahhh, different people different perspectives dont wanna waste too much money for design, except if the quality looks good to me. Design is very important to me haha, and I'm glad that my current one looks great But time's have changed haha, now more into conserved notebooks like Illegear already... I just hope one day there will be a smaller and slimmer version (sick of carrying heavy notebooks around considering the fact that I already have a DSLR that weighs as much as my M14x) Illegear is a great choice I would say, especially now that they have listen to what we want and provide pickup and on-site support |

QUOTE(Hatikolam10 @ Jun 11 2013, 11:54 PM) Its a bit too early to tell. We have to see what the cooling system of the AW 14 is like and how easy it is to clean the fans and reapply thermal paste (the M14x was very very difficult for self-maintenance). Of course, we have to see whether there are any more upgrade options for the RE-15 as well But for the time being, the RE-15 has the upper hand in terms of price-performance ratio. And based on what I've seen over the year, a 14" gaming notebook will never be able to compete with a 15" gaming notebook one, especially if you are talking about performance |

QUOTE(Prince J @ Jun 12 2013, 12:04 AM) We are still improving this part. In fact number of on-site staffs are quite limited so we usually do pickup (next day). Details will be given in the warranty page later. Well, at least you guys are listening to the customers, its very very important yo, and good job man Keep it up~ I'm looking forward to more photos on the new coloured covers |

BSOD issues are not easy to solve. Had the same problem with an old Toshiba Satellite M500 (which is know to have this issue universally).. but the thing is its not easy to "reproduce" the BSOD, making customers hard to show to the technicians the problem; and also hard for the technicians to spend an entire day "waiting" for a BSOD to happen
Raymond is right, sometimes we do get lemon units, it just depends on luck |

QUOTE(Hatikolam10 @ Jun 12 2013, 12:24 AM) Sure I'll PM you my proposed specs...just wondering about the choice of HDD for the RE-15 laptop...I'm a bit of a noob here...is the SSD a necessity nowadays or a 1TB of 5400 rpm sufficient for this kind of high performance laptop? QUOTE(raymondtong94 @ Jun 12 2013, 01:12 AM) 1TB 5400rpm is sufficient for a windows 8 powered lappy. 5400 rpm is pretty slow to start with, especially for a performance notebook like Illegear SSD is best for booting windows only, not advisable for running games, movies and heavy multitasking frequently, as this may degrade the SSD performance. And it will only get slower as it ages and gets filled up. I would suggest going for a hybrid HDD with mSATA at least for faster performance, and perhaps upgrade to an SSD when budget permits later on, I'm sure Prince J wouldn't mind helping to upgrade My personal experience with big @ss HDD is that we tend not to think so much when we save stuffs, in the end we get ALOT of files that can be hard to manage (not mentioning slowing down the computer as well since there's more files to read and find). With a smaller sized (and of course way faster) SSD, you will learn how to organize your files wisely, keeping the notebook top-notch, always Just my 2 cents |

QUOTE(raymondtong94 @ Jun 12 2013, 10:49 AM) actually, my lappy only consists of my cloud storage files, an OS, some tools, one game (maplestory lol) and several 1080p animes. sometimes, i noticed some bottlenecked loading performance, as im using a 160GB, and only left 40GB free. time to get a 7200rpm hdd. Aiya, not everyone (i.e. me) has good internet assess yo, especially in Malaysia and yeah, big @ss HDD is pretty hard to manage when it comes to management. i could recommend to get at least 1TB is enough. dont need 2TB or so much. as always, razer is just like alienware, like to rape gamers' wallets. Are you sure its not 1080p of prawns? 256GB SSD is still the optimum I would say, but even so, with my large phD and photography projects, I still have around 40GB left also Still, I have 3 1TB externals for backup and storage For the HDD, as long as its 7200rpm it should be fine, regardless of the size. 5400rpm might be a bit too slow already, especially after some time~ Razer is bigger raper since it doesn't have good warranty support as back up |

QUOTE(erszebeth @ Jun 12 2013, 11:26 AM) hopefully things will get better if razer officially release in MY. though i doubt myself will grab it. even the new m14x-r3 i doubt myself to get it. the price is insanely high for those 2 beast. but design wise, those 2 really a champion in their own league. That's why Illegear will fit nicely here But if i was given a choice between m14x and blade 14", blade 14" will be my choice, i like the plain but classy design, plus the thinnest of the blade. (by assuming the blade's ventilation is great) You can easily get a much better performing gaming machine for the same mount of price I'm still deciding whether to get a laptop or desktop for my next machine, which is still a long way to go I guess haha |

QUOTE(raymondtong94 @ Jun 12 2013, 11:30 AM) lol, im not the ecchi type. so i dont collect prawns, i only collect animes (including ecchi animes). but i will watch ecchi types by looking away at unwanted scene. Bold confession i only have one 320GB external storage, inclusive of 720p and 1080p animes (around 30 including seasons) only. Words of advice, try to get 2x 1TB HDD or 4x 500GB HDD if possible to reduce the chances of losing data when the HDD gets damaged or stolen. And of course, never keep all HDD in one place. My friend lost almost all her 3 years of hard work when she got robbed of her notebook and HDDs. Luckily she listened to me and store one more at home Well, if you get an illegear, you still have a secondary slot for larger HDDs, a big plus |
