no hardware support for USB OTG is a big big let down  sad.gif

what is google thinking when designing nexus 4...
*
i really don't give 2 shxts about USB OTG, i've got wifi / hotspot, and it does everything brilliantly, including transfering of files and streaming everything. who needs USB cables anyway? it's soooooo yesterday.

herm. About RM1750. Far much higher than what i expected.
Personally think the sweat point is RM14xx. If LG Malaysia does set the price at sub RM1500, then it will be a bomb in the market imo

Added on December 12, 2012, 11:02 am
There's no hint of price yet. But i'll start taking booking first.
Heard the stock avail in MY not many too.

u r LG distributor?

include me in the list also, thanks.

It simply means google has managed to do a verification charge on the amount from your cc.  It means the amount is not actually charged yet but a floating one. You will only be charged when items are ready to ship which also means, google can still perform a verification process if the system detects a possible fraud with a foreign credit card

You are one of those lucky ones who ordered later and got shipped earlier.  I blasted an email to google support after I spoke to their CSR named Brittany two days ago
---------------
Britanny

It's been more than 48 hours since my order is due for shipping and yet, I have not receive even a puff of breath from the so called shipping specialist.

This is really one big mess and totally unfair to me when friends ordered much later than mine got theirs filled out while I m still in deep forest

I demand for my case to be escalated to a supervisor who's able to commit with certainty on when my November 27 order listed as an overdue 1-2 weeker can finally ship.

I really don't understand how a big company can screw up so royally on a simple premise of first come first served

Brittany, this rant is by no way directed at you but I have to vent my frustrations at such unfair practices taking place

-------------

Google's fulfillment process is totally screwed up.  I read that many on November 13th orders have still not been filled while some dec 7-11 orders got shipped.  This is the worst ecommerce experience ever.

lol, welcome to the world of google, they knows their software, but they know jack about hardware and customer care.

anyway, that mail was really well written...

Thanks to everyone who pointed out that our S3 isn't LTE capable. I still feel though that the N4 isnt a wholly superior phone to the S3. Many good features in the S3.
*
Good, go for S3. i don't want ppl to compete when the N4 launches here. bye!

S3 with AOSP custom rom..
*
AOSP is an option but eventually u will get bored of flashing and finding a stable rom (like I did). if u change phone every year, then it's not a problem, if u plan to keep it long term, it's best to have a Nexus just because of the updates, no flashing needed.

QUOTE(faiz2036 @ Dec 19 2012, 01:43 PM)
Majority of nexus user choose nexus variant because of software update.
*
QUOTE(Racerx @ Dec 19 2012, 01:45 PM)
Unless Samsung releases the proper sources and documentations it won't be truly stable. sweat.gif
Personally it's a shame the N4 doesn't have more than 16GB of storage, but if i can live with it on the Nexus S I don't see why I can't on the N4. The S3 is a good device, otherwise it wouldn't have sold millions of units, but some people just don't like Samsung's UI overlay / material choices / dev support.

this is absolutely spot on.

Waa so what's the next best option for OTG storage? :/ Actually I read that google said external storage was "confusing" whatever that means
Loading slowly from SD is better than not loading at all .___. I have a tablet and even though I don't store many HD videos and not very hardcore games, storage uses up quite fast
Yup

I don't want to even be caught dead with a windows 8 device now. Buying lumia 920 is like buying an Italian car.  You may stand out in a sea of commons but when you wanna add some accesories (apps), need spare parts (expensive and hard to get), its harder to find than hair in a woman's armpits.

Windows 8 Eco system is still in its infancy.  Wait it out

yes it is. still considered a 3rd world country due to it's average per capita income is quite low. and china plans to keep this status until it's economy (officially) overtakes the US because it has it's merits (e.g. no need so much responsibility)

u sure? how good/fast they process warranty? they can't even launch a phone properly doh.gif:

actually few months back before nexus4 announced, i ask the LG Malaysia Fan Club Facebook page about LG Optimus G - they said launching before xmas, no where to be seen now

so there u have it...LG malaysia epic phail
*
well at least u have local warranty for 2 years, just a peace of mind. i'm using O2X for almost 2 years and so far the hardware is ok. just the software update sucks big time, that's why the Nexus is the safest bet. i won't buy any other brand anymore.

for those who needs a new phone asap (cause current phone already faulty etc.), i urge u to be patient a bit and get a cheapo RM60 phone to use first, u will regret getting the Note 2 or S3 if u love that snappy, responsive vanilla UI (if custom roms are not your cup of tea).

but note2 very more productive phone.

snap picture. use pen and put in note. start writing on the picture. put extra note.

good for collage life and those who looking for more than a phone...
*
if u use it often, it's a good tool, but 99% of the ppl i know (mostly salesmen, who NEEDS this kind of tool) don't use it at all, that's the problem with it, it's not as efficient as a pen and paper. it's just too fidgety, plus the response of the device isn't that good (seriously, a quad core device that takes way too long to load stuff), u won't be as productive on it as u think.

i bet u, with a paper notebook with a real pen, i can be twice as fast to access my data compared to the Note 2, this is a proven fact. ppl who bought the Note 2 thought they can (will) use it very often for whatever purpose they intend, but in the end, it's only just a gadget with a huge screen that isn't as useful as the old school tools.

well im telling base on seeing my friend. cuz i see him he just bring his phone to class. download new lecture and tutorial. cut here. paste inside the note. write here there abit. if got question on the board . he just snap picture. use pen edit here and there. take longer time to set up. but imagine how much time u saved if u want to open back your bag to find the book and paper.

then when he want to refer back he just see his phone , well that is somebody who utilize the use of note2.

he himself a lowyat forumer too. i know. must be lurking in nexus 4 thread right now. can see he is very happy for owning note 2.
*
like i said, 99% of Note users don't fully utilize it, your friend is probably that remaining 1%. u must use it a lot to be able to do your stuff smoothly, if u sometimes use sometimes don't, then the experience isn't as fluid as u like. same situation as those old timers still using pen and paper to do their note taking, they have their own system on how to arrange and compile their data so they can access it as quickly as possible.

ok, back on topic, i've already gone to LG FB page to 'make a point' thumbup.gif

last time google limited the number of device (to 2 units) per account right? now already lifted? or do they still limit? if still limited then it's a pain to purchase in bulk

if you don't travel and your area has good (3g) coverage, then yes, it's ok. if u frequent large buildings and in basement areas, then no. even if small buildings with a basement area (e.g. small shopping complex that has food court in it's basement), u won't be able to get any coverage most of the time. it's that bad.

we don't need this function, one large swipe will automatically take u to the top of the page. iOS needs it because it's swipe functions are sluggish and rubbish

what the hell r u talking about? Nexus 4 is from LG, unless u r talking about the Galaxy Nexus from Samsung. The Nexus name implies only one thing, it will get updates directly from google no matter what company manufactures it.

No worries, I'd take all news from the net with grains of salt myself. I can't reveal who my source is, suffice to say it's of the higher management level, related to the Hotspot/Nexus Store itself. Which if anyone know who he is, you'd also know he also handles the Samsung showroom ground level LYP, Sony Centre LYP ground floor, and the MacStudio franchise.

I've asked a unit for myself, he obliged. I'm not sure when they would open one for reservation/booking.
*
i haven't visited LYP for over a year now, i have no idea the Nexus store is already opened. lol...

bravo to stringfellow...
since u r no talk oni and able to proof with the pix... u win

---

seriously N4 is NOT THE BEST phone on the market,
oni 16gb, no external storage to top up...
otg not working... battery not the longest...
performance is a little bit better... ip5 is better n another 3/6months new phone will top it

the oni thing they win is the PRICE and GOOGLE update...

my rating: note2 > ip5 > s3 > n4

despite all this, i think i still pretty much like it  wub.gif
but to recommend it to other... i wont lo

most user are just casual user... spec and branding win... nothing more
*
i'm exactly the opposite, i will only recommend a Nexus phone, nothing else. because 9/10 android users will complain later on that their 'flagship' expensive as hell phone don't have the latest update. i'll tell them to not whine when they don't listen to my advice if they bought a Note 2 or S3 or whatever phone other than a Nexus. either u listen to me, or be prepared to change phone every 1.5 years. unless u buy an iphone. then i'll tell them don't whine when they can't get any apps for free or they can't set their custom ringtones to it.
