After open pork for 3 wonderful weeks, my Gabby's FC on average has been brought down from 7.5litre/100km to 7.3litre/100km. This small improvement may not be significant enough for the most of us, but its a huge different for someone like me who travel extremely short distance, moreover I'm in the middle of KL city. This 0.2litre savings directly translated into 1-2 days travel expanses in a month. Ayam considering to open pork my GaGa once I got some extra juice to spend.
Meanwhile, Gabby tered's v3to has came up with a scary statistic, that his car with a blower fan can do an average of 18km/litre. Currently he's in the midst of finding way to beat Mirage's official record 21km/litre. When all these things sounded too good to be true, I communicated with magician to find out more info regarding this matter. So, below are some facts & findings for your reference. 1) Blower itself can't be a charger. Electric blower's wind speed can generate up to 3000CFM, but that is strictly under no barrier environment. So, we can't expect it to have turbo charge or compressor type of positive pressure effect. 2) Increased air flow by electric blower can help smoothen low end torque A/F supply. However, as WOT applied, strong vacuum generated by piston will cancel off +ve air flow from the blower, whereas the blower fin became a restriction of suction. So, the theory became lowend increased A/F, mid+hi end became decreased A/F. 3) To have maximum effect on fan blower, ECU remap is required. When lowend air flow increased, we expect map sensor detect unusual air flow, as a result injector coulld spray more fuel to avoid lean burning. 4) Risk of blower fan cracked, debries got suck into combustion chamber is tremendous. The least we can do is add a safety need after the blower before throttle body, to prevent such incident. However, the safety net itself became another barrier to the air flow. This is as far as we get. Ayam considering to add blower myself to see how it affect my FC. This may be a good start, but fact 4 may lead to a disasterous event, so I pray it will not happen. |
