no...brickboy is just like a normal shope which sells LEGO sets, no pick-a-brick section
*
and I dunt think thats a big problem/issue anymore having no such shop. bricklink offers almost everything for LEGOtards including kitchen sink (duplo punya).

http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?q=duplo%20sink

A matter of patience is needed only to handpick our stuff and of coz... the torturing 2-3 weeks wait.

Guys, although it's not much mentioned here, I think the Lego Monster Fighters series has the best looking cars & trucks around.
*
I have to agree.... the vehicles looks challenging to build and with alot of "sculpting" on it as well. Its because of this I bought the werewolf set and the Tree is the worst LEGO moment I ever had, the black and dark brown parts are hard to differentiate on the instructions .. and the building experience is boring . I had then dismantled the damn tree into my POP (Pile of Parts) and keeping the car for admiration.

what do u all think about the above set?
*
my personal opinion as a MOC person (aka will butcher sets for parts when done building)
Ambulance looks plain and blocky - SKIP
garbage truck and dump truck looks more fun to play , can consider
car with camper .... not gonna put $$ on the most boring kinda of LEGO vehicle in recent history.... 4 stud wide car . - SKIP.

Take note, the price printed @ Sunway Pyramidn Aeon is wrong. Suppose to be rm87.90.

Zoom has highlighted this when making payment and refunded rm2

With every rm100 purchase, entitled for rm5 voucher, the "nett" price is rm82.90  rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif

* i remember the rm5 voucher has a validity date. Must use soon one
*
yep........ thats about 20% discount off the retail rm109.90. However.. to get the rm5 .. i guess we gotta buy something worth 12.10 to top up our LEGO purchase. I usually hit the DIY section to get some household stuff like what I done last time with parkson (to get their voucher upon hitting rm150)

about the voucher its only start friday untill this sunday. then valid for use from 10 to 31 december. be sure to swipe your aeon card and check the price is 87.90

dirt transporter got 6 more in rawang. puchong only got one left. sunway no more already.

@malik229: when i look at brickboy gardens last week, its selling at recommend retail price. like everyone does.
*
woah.. u arrival is an asset to us. I always think Jusco is the least favored place to get affordable LEGOs. the last time I get my bargains was the Oriental Adventures temple going at 80% off in bargain bin... that was 7 years ago I think. Nothing much since then.

so now jusco offered 10% off all LEGO, + rm5 for each rm100 spent? if like this.. its high time for me to get the mandalorian fighter

http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=9525-1

Any jusco in klang valley still stocking the above? thanks first =)

The golden question now:

What is ur budget/allocation/money per month for LEGO stuff?? biggrin.gif

My budget is between rm150 to rm200 only hehe
*
now: fluctuates between rm100 and rm200
next year: will definitely rise to 300-400 p/mon. Chima + Creators + some Ninjago = eat bricks to stay alive.

sets are tempting as nothing beats the feeling of opening new set and follow the instructions to build (feeling-like-a-child moment). But due to budget constraint.. I only aimed for sets with sleek-looking models with many angled connections coz thats where most special parts are offered inside like Ninjago. (so seeing blocky city vehicles and buildings doesnt appeal to me).

When Im in the mood for a new MOC, I turn the living room into warzone with parts scattered under sofa / on the carpet.

the last time I bought my first LEGO train set 4560 in jusco in 2003 (possibly the last ever of this set in retail... coz the box is beaten up and hastily taped back, seemed like BIB )... I found out a few magnets are missing. submitted my complains in www.lego.com and no respond .

If its a grey/light grey 2x1 tile .. i think I might have extra. PM me to know how I can give it to u smile.gif

Small or big MOC, most important is to have fun rather than competing against others =)

if budget is tight... can consider microbuilding, like this guy , a fellow Malaysian:

Over 21?
love LEGO?

well if both criteria are fulfilled... then obviously we all qualified to be Adult Fan of LEGO. the difference is just some people have alot of time to build stuff /MOC.

thx bro ....

how about the small f1 car is it ok to just fix and place it?
*
NO its NOT OK. play with it , roll it around (and make vrooming sound) .. hug it .. and if you got the time.. buy more parts/set and build something else with it.

treat it as if you're a 10 year old kid. smile.gif

follow their US Retail, estimated at RM149.90
*
us retail pricing is useless benchmark coz local distributor set different standard.

LEGO creator / Ninjago (unlicensed) us19.99 ends up as rm109.90

Licensed Avengers Wolverine chopper / Loki truck / and now this Spiderman set also us$19.99 will probably be rm$149.90 , coz the distributor felt like squeezing out more out from it and dont really in the mood to follow us$ retail.

correct me if im wrong... compared to Texchem... after ALJ taken over, not a single LEGO warehouse sale was held in recent years. I wonder where their excess stock went.

actually IIRC that deal rgd 7051 Tripod Invader RM65 (TCM TRU) was mentioned in this thread by a helpful forummer

when i bought, it was 1 of last 3 sets. i haven't seen recently in any other TRU though.
*
yea same here. I tried to hunt for the tripod but its gone just mere hours after it was mentioned here. However..... I spotted the last of Gator swamp in TRU KLCC and snagged it. Not really a fun build and Im in it for the parts. Left with 5 figures , a gator + a few accessories . Anybody wanna make me an offer for these figs ? =)
