QUOTE(lailaikatong @ Jan 17 2007, 10:40 PM) i'm now in australia, and here's my updated setup:![]() -MBP 15" 2.33GHz -Logitech V270 (previously V200) -Maxtor OneTouch III Turbo 600GB (firewire800) [125gb partition for weekly entire image backup of MBP harddisk, and the rest for other stuff] -Altec Lansing FX6021 (sub on the floor) Notebook raised using those normal plastic speedballs... USB devices (card reader, ipod, printer) connected to a Belkin USB hub behind the notebook... Planning to get a BookEndz dock, but a bit of a hassle coz have to order from the US... Eyeing to get an apple cinema display as well, but I won't rush coz right now ain't got enuff money and it's not really necessary... I'm hoping for a new version with built in card-readers like the dells and built in isight... This post has been edited by lailaikatong: Apr 17 2007, 08:20 PM |

civic98, you're a lucky guy if they don't come back to take the spoilt one... 2 displays for the price of one... not bad eh??
I just ordered a Dell 2407 today. Can't wait for it to arrive, I hope it won't disappoint... I've been contemplating over the past few days whether I should get the Dell 2407 or the 23" ACD... The ACD is definitely more aesthetically pleasing, but the Dell is definitely more feature packed & gives more bang for the buck... In the end it was the warranty that made me choose the Dell... Cost me AU$1048 for a unit with 5years warranty, whereas the ACD would've cost AU$1250 with only 1 year warranty, and an extra AU$125 for Applecare... From my previous posts I did mention that I wanted to wait for the next generation of ACDs, but given Apple's decision to switch to LED backlit panels, it would definitely take some time before a 24"er is released and I just can't wait that long... I do hope more details+rumors about the next gen ACDs would surface over the next 2-3 weeks, so that I can still get a refund if I change my mind.. Added on May 8, 2007, 4:26 pmThe dell screen arrived today! I've spent 3 hours with it and so far I'm satisfied...Received revision A04, don't think there's any problem with it... no dead pixels, thankfully! the only minor problem i had was the height adjustment release button on the stand jammed a bit but now it's ok... some pics of my setup with the new screen: ![]() Extended desktop mode ![]() Windows xp via parallels on mbp... mac os on dell... happy! Yerp, that's a griffin elevator... It does help with the airflow but the main reason i use it is to keep the screen aligned with the external monitor when i use it in extended desktop mode... It aligns the mbp screen to about the vertical center of the dell, so i still can use the active corners on the dell without accidentally moving the cursor onto the mbp screen...

QUOTE(nando @ Jun 14 2007, 05:01 AM) err...need to ask sifu for short feedback here... Dell or ACD?? The dilemma faced by most people who wanna get screens for their macs... hehe..i got a powerbook and thinking getting a external monitor. IS it worth spending extra $ to get Apple Cinema display? as compared to the Dell display? besides looking cool i mean... Thanks... sorry, hijack thread a little bit IMO, the ACDs win hands down in terms of design for all 3 models... The Dells win hands down in terms of value for money (lower price, longer warranty etc)... A fair comparison would be the 2007WFP vs 20" ACD, 2407WFP vs 23" ACD, and the 3007WFP vs 30" ACD... The features are about the same for the 30" models from both manufacturers, except that the dell 30" has a card reader... The Dell 20" and 24" have more inputs, and not to mention the extra inch and card reader for the 24" model... The Dells have more flexible stands too... From most, but not all reviews, color accuracy is said to be better on the ACDs... Don't forget that when you buy the ACD separately from a mac, u can't bundle the APP together... So more money needed for extended warranty... It all depends on whether you're willing to splash the extra cash for better design.. If you have the money, go ahead... I had a touch time deciding, rationality told me Dell but emotions swayed me towards the ACD... Eventually decided on a Dell 2407 with 5 years warranty.. Used the savings to buy a keyboard and griffin elevator... Still have extra from the price difference that I'll use to bump up my memory soon... I enjoy the screen that I'm staring at and I know that I made the right decision, but deep down inside me the devil's voice still says I should've bought the aluminium enclosed screen... haha.. Read up the reviews, check out the screens in the flesh.. It'll make it easier for u to decide... |

QUOTE(nando @ Jun 15 2007, 01:02 AM) thanks brother, and Wei and bridgestone too..i know this is the right place to ask...now, more undecided but its a healthy thing....choices and competition... no worries edit: sorry, not full refund return policies... just checked their websites... You'd have to pay for the delivery costs.. And apple charges 10% open-box fee.. ouch! buying both is not a good idea.. haha This post has been edited by lailaikatong: Jun 15 2007, 10:18 AM |

@bryanyz & wei: I bought the huey from an ebay dealer... Got it for AU$170 (including postage)... Here's a link to the ebay listing...
Shashinki is currently selling the normal huey for RM299... @wei: thanks for the heads up! I'm not too sure whether it's advisable to use it like this either... haha... i roll it up to avoid clutter... So far there hasn't been any problems, but I guess i should let the cable loose to avoid any future problems... Thanks! |

@TechnoDude94
There's a Wii right next to the Xbox. You can also see the sensor bar on top of the TV. @ps360 Nice hardware there, and yeah sempit is indeed the right word to use |

No use apologizing for going off-topic if you keep on straying in the next post, it just makes it all the more irritating. This thread is not your chatroom, go somewhere else! There's the PM button. There's also the CARD button where you can find IM addresses. USE THEM for all your personal enquiries that don't contribute to the thread.
Think before you type, don't post just for the sake of posting. Now let's get back to the topic, shall we? |

QUOTE(kazasho @ Sep 10 2008, 10:28 PM) Nothing wrong about still using Tiger, it's still a great OS. In certain aspects it might even still be better & more stable than Leopard. At least he's using it legally. No point using Leopard if it's on a hackintosh. |
