Bought it for about RM400 with shipping from OWC (refurbished unit with 6 mths warranty). Comes with Elgato Eye TV2 Software. Didn't know the different versions then, bought the wrong one with NTSC/ATSC. For Malaysia should be PAL/DVB-T. Anyway it still works.

Pinnacles TV USB Stick for Mac costs about RM430 (All IT) new one with Elgato's Eye TV Lite software.

I'm at Genting, currently there are no digital broadcast in Malaysia, and even if they do (probably in one or two years' time) it will be DVB-T, mine won't be able to receive it cause it's ATSC.

If you want to get it for digital TV, make sure it's the right format for the right country.

Yes according to Elgato's explanation. However HD quality depends on processor performance, as the TV stick does not do the processing.

To be able to open 1080 HD media & to play it smoothly is two different thing. That also depends what type of encoding the file uses. Some codec take a lot of resources to decode. For example MKV. Also it's pointless to view 1080 media on tiny screen like 13.3" screen, you can't see the fine details unless you're watching it from 5cm away. You can always download some HD trailer to test on your hardware.

For my case, 720p already a very good media, watching it at 30" screen from approx 6 feet away. 720p media already 6-7GB per 2 hour movie. 1080p can easily double that. Without BD/HD DVD burner, it gonna be a hassle to archive. And current Mac do not come with BD/HD DVD drive. Render it pointless buying off the shelf BD/HDDVD movie.
