Let's make some senses for KGF based on whole Bursa Malaysia performance:

Benchmark Delta (%)
FBMKLCI -0.22
FBMT100 -0.2
FBM70 -0.15
FBMSCAP 0.52
FBMEMAS -0.14

If KGF has no restriction on large, mid cap or small cap, the nearly flat NAV movement could be justified from it.

Hi gurus,

I am newbie in Unit Trust / Mutual Fund. I have MYR 400k to invest, only 1 time, no plan to add in the near future. Wanting to put them all in UT.
Where best to put?
Put all in EastSpring Investment Small Cap Fund? best performing equity fund..
goal is to gain capital in the next 3-5 years.

Cheaper to buy from FundSuperMart?

Thanks for your advice.

so much.. You should not put all in at once,
What happen if Russia Invades Ukraine After u put all your money?
-20% will you able to take that in?

Try Reading top 50 post.. About Dollar Cost Averaging and Value Averaging Investing.. Try to put maybe 5k in each fund every month? whistling.gif
Allocate different cash into diff funds o diversify. whistling.gif whistling.gif

400,000 - 30% = Rm320,000 left, and that as a worst case situation? even 50%, it's still Rm200,000.

What are the chances of a really large drawdown? 2008 financial crisis drawdown was 38%, still 248K left, and that only lasted one year.

whistling.gif i don't think first timers can withstand that..
They most likely panic sell.. hmm.gif hmm.gif

I myself, arent sure if i can withstand it too :C

Well am not a Sifu, but IMHO
Pass Performance is not Future,so there is no 100% certainty, But a manager's track record gives you a good night sleep..

Small Cap will be
EASTSPRING INVESTMENTS SMALL-CAP FUND

No Dividend fund for me, still young.
Try KENANGA GROWTH FUND

This two have been a good performer FOR ME..
You can try recommended Funds from FSM.

If I know that, I won't be posting here to chit chat with you. I'll be opening a public talk to earn money or best to be Jibby economic adviser.

Investing in UT is not really about market timing. Market timing will give you slightly more advantage. Throughout the holding time, the fund manager may or will rebalance the fund portfolio and its lying assets to suit or ride through the market uncertainty or volatility.
*
yeap, it's not market timing,
but staying invested..

Never thought I will be visiting this thread for a person who completely doesn't believe in unit trust fund and ended up working in one lolz...

From what I heard from a central dealer in a unit trust company, fund managers have been buying high and selling low. Most of the affected funds are Malaysian based with no international exposure. Aside from that the asset allocation has presented fund manager with a major headache, since they are required to observed certain threshold (I.e. 60% equity and 40% fixed income) and maintain a min cash reserve (5%?). To add to the conandrum, external factors are so uncertain with rising interest rates and falling oil prices... I think fund managers are probably pulling out all their hair by now. Hahahaha...

My money isn't in ASEAN (excl Singapore), I believe the future lies with Japan.

I have started to move Malaysian based funds to regional funds until oil prices recover.
