I don't know if right now is the right time to invest small amount of money in any unit trust. I plan to invest around RM2,000-4,000 in UT for three to five years.

hey guys. im currently earning in foreign currency. with the ringgit being very unstable, is it wise to continue investing in malaysia (i currently have public mutual and ansb), or is it wiser to do something overseas.

Can recommend me a fund that is moderate and for mid-long term (5-10 yrs)?  Heard Public Mutual has the highest service fee rate, is it true?  Should I stay away from Pub Mutual at all costs?  A friend keeps recommending me something called small-cap fund.   

And also, is it better to put in lump sum or monthly as suggested by a friend?

Appreciate advise.

Anyone has any experience with Affin-Hwang Maturity Income Fund?  Safe ka? Haha,  I mean wont be lower than conventional FD rates so far?

Just an update

Performance to date in IgoFx since March '17  choosing vladislav to copy trade has been encouraging at ROI +7%  and I can see each trade made. I have yet to withdraw my profits to date. Note that withdrawal of any amount is allow any time, and return is not guarantee unlike JJPTR and base on Vladislav's trade performance.

Many have doubt if it's legit. Trades by vladislav or the traders listed may not be real and note that IgoFx is under Monetary Authority of Singapore's watchlist http://www.mas.gov.sg/IAL.aspx?sc_p=I

You need to think about how to buy as a malaysian and the cost associated with it.  Even if you go with say Interactive Broker,
- can you cough up USD10k as initial deposit?
- can you withstand their inactivity fees of USD10/month
- do you think about the with holding taxes

Even if you don't choose Interactive Broker and use a Malaysian broker, they will charge you high er brokerage charges (this is confirm) and either maintenance fees or/and dividend fees + 30% with holding tax with forex losses (everytime you make payment, payment will be at bank's rate)
- Now that really adds up doesn't it?

This is just my personal opinion.
ETFs only work for western market. That's it. For asia region, ETF is still not the way to go. Why? There are many funds which still can beat the benchmark index for asian region (after plus management fees). If they beat the benchmark index, they indirectly beat the ETF which track the benchmark index as most ETF are design to just "track the benchmark". It won't surpass the benchmark, it won't underperform the benchmark. It will just give you benchmark performance.

Some other valid reason ETF investing is not for everyone
