QUOTE(nexona88 @ Oct 9 2015, 06:13 PM) The Manulife research also found that investors expected average rate of return on investments of 8.6% for 2015. Important to note the comment that followed: "Manulife Asset Management Services Bhd chief investment officer Jason Chong said it might be overly ambitious considering the level of losses Malaysian equities had posted so far this year." |

Take a look (listen) at PaulMerriman.com
Although he is basing discussion on USA funds, a lot might be applied to Malaysia as well. |

QUOTE(nightzstar @ Jun 13 2016, 03:20 PM) Watch out for American popular sentiment whipped up by media. Those funds that have big European holdings have dropped some already, eg, VEURX down maybe 20% from peaks. That one has several UK PLC's but also many continentals, so probably some defenses have already been built in. |

QUOTE(blackseed202 @ Sep 18 2016, 09:49 PM) hi guys. im new here. i have been lurking around reddit and most of their advice are for US based investment. id like to know if there is any unit trust that has some sort of similar to vanguard investment? Note, even if some are set up, there will be big differences, and they won't work the same way. One, Vanguard does not charge fees to buy and sell. As the USA market is so many times bigger than Malaysia's, Vanguard is HUGE, so more reliable, choices and activity. Very important, the governance is according to local national regulations.any UT that is based on KLCI index or any other indexes? because i read for a long term, it would be better to invest in index fund since i dont think i can manage individual stocks. EDIT: its okay guys. just saw one of the other threads saying no index fund in malaysia. |

QUOTE(ZurichVictorT @ Sep 18 2016, 10:39 PM) I don't believe Zurich is a real partner. No such thing for Vanguard AFAIK. Anyone can do the same thing e.g. by buying Vanguard VHT Healthcare ETF on the open stock market. However brokerage and foreign exchange X 2 fees apply. Probably said before but....
Some people here discussing "long term investment for future gain" and some others "short term trading for quick profit." Readers must know the difference, consider their own goals, time frame and risk level. |

How can I assess the effect of management fees? What time of the year are they deducted, or built into NAV but when?

Is there any law, etc, why there are no no-load funds here? Too small a market?
