QUOTE(Ben91 @ Apr 29 2013, 09:51 PM)
BUDGET: 5k-5.5k
MAIN PURPOSE: Gaming with the highest setting possible
SECONDARY PURPOSE: Video/picture editing, autocad and other software similar to it.
PARTS REUSING: None since its being built from ground up
PLANNED DATE OF PURCHASE: Will start buying parts at the beginning of june.
LIVING AREA: PJ/KL
Here is what I have on my build so far:

Processor: I5- 3750K / RM700
MB: Asus Sabertooth Z77 / RM 850 or Asus P8Z77 V Pro - RM740
GPU: EVGA GTX 670 FTW SIGNATURE2 2G / RM 1400
RAM : G. SKill Sniper Series 16GB DDR3 1866 (2x8GB) / RM 425 or G. SKill Sniper Series 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1866 / RM250
MONITOR: Samsung S24B350H LED / RM680
PSU: Need advice
CASE: CM HAF X / RM 580
HDD: WD 1 TERA BLACK / RM 260

This is my build,I'm planning on OC so I need a PSU that can handle that plus any cooling I might add in the future. This is my first time building a pc from scratch and also the first time I'll doing any OC so I'm still a noob in that department. Also, this rig needs to last around 4 years without much upgrading being done to it except the gpu

Advice on parts and opinion is much welcomed,is this build overkill?
*
I would say just hold on the plan since u start buying on june. On that time probably might have new items available.

QUOTE(seanlee89 @ Apr 29 2013, 10:02 PM)
Thanks, but 2x 4GB is better no? since it will be dual channel?
*
The difference in performance between ram running as dual vs single channel is minimal.

i need help once more...
apparently this spec cant really get with this same price...
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

i asked those in garage sales thread, and the best price i can get is rm2.7k+
but my budget is fixed at rm2500.
so which part of this rig should i trim down?

i hope can still get i5-3470, gpu sapphire 7790, and 22" monitor with rm2.5k  sad.gif
*
Weird, most garage sellers should be offering reasonable/competitive price that are similar to Lowyat shops.
In case the above spec cant be achieved, will be tone down the ram to 4gb RM89, graphic card to sapphire 7770 RM389 to make it close to RM2500 budget.
As saw some previous post mentiond that starcraft2 is quite cpu intensive so try retain the i5 processor.

Btw I think u calculate the price wrong, it should be total RM2377 only for above spec.

Third Wave Advantedge software seems very much cpu core intensive and more likely toward industry-based workstation purpose for engineers in factoring. And the system requirement is very high to ensure the program runs well.
QUOTE
Recommended AdvantEdge hardware configuration for a new workstation:
Dell Precision Workstation T5500 MiniTower - 64 bit

    * First Processor: Six-core Intel Xeon Processor X5690, 3.46GHz, 12M L3, 6.4GT/s
    * Second Processor: Six-core Intel Xeon Processor X5690, 3.46GHz, 12M L3, 6.4GT/s
    * Operating System: Genuine Windows 7 Ultimate, 64-bit
    * Graphic Cards: 256MB NVIDIA Quadro NVS 295, 2MON, 2DP w/2 DP to DVI adapters
    * Memory: 24GB, DDR3 RDIMM Memory, 1333MHz, ECC (6 DIMMs)
    * Boot Hard Drive: 500GB SATA 3.0 Gb/s with NCQ and 16MB DataBurst Cache
    * Second Hard Drive: 1.5TB SATA 3.0Gb/s, 7200 RPM hard drive with 32MB DataBurst Cache
Link: http://www.thirdwavesys.com/products/advan...equirements.htm

With very tight budget you may suffer lag of using this program sweat.gif . Anyway, this is the best spec I could think of 1.5k budget.

1. Yup Asus B75 mobo is good enough. For budget saving u can consider other brand like asrock, msi or gigabyte since asus is overpriced on same chipset.

2. 7750 is good enough to handle dota2 and fifa, but your budget should be able to afford at least 7770. Battlefield3 require better graphic card for better settings.

Intel Core i5 3470
Asrock B75M-DGS
Corsair VS1333 ram 4GB smile.gif
GTX650
Seagate SV35 1TB Sata III HDD
CM K280 case
Liteon 22x DVDRW
Corsair CX 500W PSU

total cost is RM 2048 right?
this setup can run latest games on high or med? smile.gif
*
I wonder why taking a gtx650, it is only on par with 7770. Only be able to handle low-med setting for latest games.

Unless it is a gtx650 ti boost 2gb, then the price stated and game setting of med is ok.

Advise needed to build my very 1st rig. Thx in advance  notworthy.gif

[Budget]
RM3000±

[Purpose]
Hope to connect to my Sony 3D TV and DELL U2312HM at the same time. Need to watch 3D and Full HD movie on my Sony 3D TV. So 3D supported graphic cards and Blu-Ray BD-ROM drive required. Decent sound card needed as well in order to connect to my Logitech Z906 5.1 speaker.

[Hardware that will be reuse from old rig]
None

[Monitor resolution]
Sony 3D TV and DELL U2312HM 23'', both 1920x1080.

[Game or software that use frequently]
Diablo 3, Starcraft 2, Dota 2, Need for Speed: Most Wanted

[Personal Preference Brand]
Bitfenix Prodigy  drool.gif Will add on SSD plus HDD for better performance. Water cooling system(optional)

[Location]
KL, Selangor.
*
An extra sound card will definitely not able to fit in Bitfenix Prodigy due to limited expansion slots of 2.
Perhaps u need to consider other slightly taller casing than prodigy like Silverstone TJ08 or other casing that u like which can fit in those things without issue.

Try
Intel i5 3470 RM559
MSI B75MA P45 RM229
Kingston 4gb ram RM89
Plextor M5S 128gb SSD RM299
Leaadtek GTX650 Ti Boost 2gb RM589
FSP Hexa 500W RM160
CREATIVE X-FI TITANIUM sound card RM339
WD Blue 1TB RM199
Liteon Blue-Ray RW RM299
Silverstone TJ08 RM389 [this unit price need confirmation from seller]
Total RM3151

Hi, thanks for all the infos smile.gif after checking out abit n with suggestion from friends the list will be roughly like this

CPU: i5 3470 565+- or i5 - 3570k (but his not going to oc so its up to him to decide)
Mobo: MSI H77MA-G43 289+-
RAM: Corsair Vengeance Low Profile 8GB 250+-
Case: Reserve 200 decide later+-
HDD: WD 1TB HDD 194+-
PSU: Seasonic S12II 620W 299+-
GPU: Sapphire HD 7970 vapor-X 1400+-
DVD: LiteOn DvD - RM59

so the estimated price will be roughly rm3.2k smile.gif
*
If dont mind the looking of ram, value ram will do the same and 8gb single stick only price at RM169. It saves u RM80.

QUOTE(kaoshi @ May 5 2013, 12:20 AM)
i plan to go for i5 and  prefer slightly low budget graphic card. any suggestion?
*
As Hilmax mentioned.
If upgrade to i5, u only left budget of RM100+ for graphic card. Even a low-end HD6670 graphic card will cost around RM200+ that ensure games that arent so intensive on graphics to run smoothly.

SAMSUNG 21.5in S22B150N LED LCD MONITOR
D-LINK DWA-525 W/L-N 150 PCI ADAPTER
COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 EVO
*
Not bad, but doing some adjustment will be better.

1. Remove CM hyper 212 cooler and add the money to a better graphic card.

2. 2gb might not sufficient if u open games and and other task at the same time. Get a 4gb ram at least.

3. Change the PSU to a more reliable one, cant find any good review of aerocool psu. Good PSU such as FSP Hexa 500W should be enough for above setup.

Is there any other motherboard with better built in sound card? And can you advice me which water cooling system is compatible with above setup?
Thx  smile.gif
*
Mobo with good built-in sound card u feel just not worth it because it is way more expensive than regular mobo.
Not sure if there's good itx mobo with nice sound chip built-in.

Compatibility of of water cooling system, Prodigy can fit in up to 240mm length of radiator at top or front, and one 120mm rad at rear without problem. Will only suggest this if u wanna do overclocking. Else it might just overkill setup for looking good laugh.gif .

What do you mean low end cpu bottleneck high end gpu? Is that mean graphic card more important ?Sorry im blur here hahaha xD
*
Both processor and graphic card are important. You just need to balance both of them in your pc to avoid any bottleneck issue.

For example, a racing car has a very powerful engine, but the tyre or direction handle is too lousy so that car cannot perform its full speed due to other component limit.

Thanks for your suggestion @marfccy.

I read that AMD Radeon card perform better compare to Nvidia on Adobe software e.g photoshop.
I'm looking into Sapphire HD7850 1gb @ RM559 or HD7850 OC 2gb @ RM639 (cycom).
Any suggestion on this ?.

by the way, I'm buying from lowyat/ KL area. will going down this sunday.  thumbup.gif
*
Photoshop performance not rely on graphic card much.
Others "maybe" only.

Better pick the 2gb version if you are using 1080p or higher resolution for gaming.
Sapphire 7850 2gb is just on par with GTX650 Ti Boost 2gb.
