I think PSU must change too. It's a TrendSonic PSU. And I doubt it will support the GPU. So, need to readjust which part to squeeze in PSU? So, have cheaper mobo alternative? Thanks boss.
*
If like that maybe cut budget on mobo, change to GIGABYTE H61M-S1 RM154. Some adjustment:

Intel i3 3220 RM344
GIGABYTE H61M-S1 RM154
Kingston 4gb ram RM89
-HDD resuse-
Sapphire 7750 RM315
Gigabyte Powerock 420W RM109
-DVDRW reuse-
-Casing reuse-

Total RM1011

*Btw, if his old spec still working good. Then maybe upgrade graphic card and power supply lst.

I think that's better because he will never oc or use extra PCIE. Actually his rig are fine, except his GPU (i guess). His rig often self restart and I guess the GPU are overheating because last time I tested Spec Ops the Line, the GPU hit 99c when on air. Last time when his AC are still good, his rig seldom self restart. But since his AC having problem and haven't repair yet, self restart occur mostly on gaming. Don't have time to change his GPU and CPU TiM.

BTW, I think can buy HD 7750 and PSU first right? I don't think his old CPU will hardly bottle neck his GPU.
*
chamging the thermal paste will take some time for cleaning the old ones.
If bottleneck is there I think wont be much.

QUOTE(yonghong @ Mar 31 2013, 12:19 AM)
bro, if i change above gpu to gtx 670? wat should i change too? or just nonid change?will bottleneck? no plan to oc.
*
If using gtx670, I suggest u get a better psu like Enermax NAXN82+ 550W RM215 or Seasonic S 620W RN299.

hi guys...
my gigabyte p35 socket 775 mobo just went into infinite boot loop...i think the bios has corrupted

i guess no choice but to change mobo, cpu, ram and reuse everything else...

back then, choosing an intel mobo was still not that hard...nowadays, there is so many chipset and also variants...@_@

can anyone suggest me a mobo around rm300+-...my requirement is:
1. ATX size
2. 4 dimms
3. min 4 sata ports (the more the better)
4. min 1 PCI slot (not important)
4. stable, reliable and maybe longer than 1 year warranty (optional)...
5. can warranty in KL area after 1 year period

i have retired from OC days...an i5 should outperform my e6300 @ 3ghz easily
*
So you need which type mobo?
775 socket or 1155 socket?

QUOTE(Lineage @ Apr 1 2013, 03:58 AM)
Hi all,

Looking for a PC for office use..budget within RM2000..kindly advise below setup is it ok or can get better spec with the budget mentioned..

Intel CORE I5 3470  RM559
ASROCK Z77 PRO 3  RM349
Kingston DDR3 1333 8GB  RM164  <-- 1 x 8GB(single channel) RAM is better or 2 x 4GB(dual channel) RAM is better?
WD Blue 500GB  RM164
Microsoft Windows 7 Pro RM409
Cooler Master Elite 361  RM109
Xigmatek NRP-VC503  RM149
LiteOn DVD Writer  RM64
Total : RM1967
Besides that, looking for UPS also..new to this..can anyone recommend which brand and model I should look for? normally how long I can use if power supply down? budget maybe around RM200..
*
For normal office use, an i5 and good mobo is pretty overkill. But its up to u to decide.
Try Budget saving build maybe:

Intel i3 3220 RM344
MSI B75MA-P45 RM229
Kingston 4gb ram RM89
[dual channel is better but u wont see much difference at all, again 4gb is more than enough for office works]
WD Blue 500gb RM164
Microsoft Window 7 Pro RM409
Cooler Master Elite 361 RM109
FSP Hexa 500W RM160
Any DVDRW RM59

Total RM1563

The power supply u pick not so reliable, so I change it to a better one with similar price point.

Thanks for your reply..the motherboard you suggest is reliable? you know office PC..reliable is the main concern..  wink.gif
If I prefer slightly higher spec for this setup, which hardware you will recommend to upgrade?
I choose 8GB as Windows 7 itself already using almost 2GB when idle..you know those office people..always open as many excel, word, and etc as possible..so having 8GB for hassle free..and still within budget right?  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
Yup the motherboard is reliable.
At idle the background service/programs should only take around 1-1.5gb. Maybe u didnt close all those useless startup programs and services thus making the ram being occupied without realize it.
Indeed they just use the PC without care because it is not their property sweat.gif .
I mean no offense to them, just maybe some of them only.
Hardware for upgrade, maybe processor or SSD.

Basically Z77 offers more features then B75. If you dont need them, a B75 is sufficient. For more info about those mobo, kindly google the spec and compare them smile.gif
4gb is sufficient for most games, except Crysis 3 maybe. You add another stick later on.
Try

Intel i5 3470 RM559
MSI B75MA-P45 RM229
Kingston 4gb ram RM89
Seagate 500gb RM159
Sapphire 7870 XT RM769 [from C-zone]
Seasonic S 620W RM299
Casing CM K280 RM129

Total RM2233

A graphic card upgrade maybe Sapphire 7870 XT RM769 [from C-zone]. i3 may still bottleneck this card in some more cpu-intensive games like Crysis 3 / Far Cry 3.
Do consider upgrade to a better PSU if your current one is not 550W true power.
Example: Seasonic S 620W RM299 or Enermax NAXN82+ 550W RM215
To minimize the cpu bottleneck issue, just upgrade the cpu itself. Do check if your mobo support Ivy bridge i5 processor or not, to double confirm although the socket is using same 1155.

tq hmwgbworld,

i going to get

MSI Z77MA-G45
Kingston 8gb ram

and cut the budget with the PSU

any cheaper PSU advice ? try not over my hole budget if possible
and may i ask do i really need a RM299 PSU ?

if i really want to buy a monitor 21.5inch that can fully use the effect with Sapphire 7870 XT, any cheapest monitor advise ?

thanks.
*
You may not need a RM299 PSU, but a little overkill on the PSU will allow any further upgrade/component add in.
PSU that is cheaper and reliable, Try Enermax NAXN82+ 550W RM215.
But somehow hard to be found in Lowyat stores, you can try get from lingloong/IdealTech in case Lowyat no stores are selling it.

A cheapest 21.5" 1080p monitor maybe Samsung S22B150N led RM384.
Topup a little more can get IPS monitor LG IPS224T RM419.
Both price taken from Viewnet.

Overall looks solid enough, if play some graphic demanding games may consider Leadtek gtx670 RM1099. Drop the casing fan first to save budget for the graphic card since case fan can be added later on easily.

I don't know computers that much so all this overclocking don't compute in my head  sweat.gif . I just plan to use this PC at least 3-4 years without upgrading but would like the keep that option open.

Anyway thanks I'll go shop around with 2nd option you recommended. Will it still be possible to build this rig with the specs you recommended if I change;-

i5 3470 - RM559
MSIB75P45 - RM229
Corsair value ram 8GB - RM159
WD Blue 500gb - RM164  --> Seagate SV35 1TB HDD RM249
Any dvd - RM60
SAPPHIRE 7850 2gb - RM629
Enermax NAXN 82+ 550W = RM 215 --> Seasonic S 620W RM299
LG E2042C - RM299
COOLER MASTER K280 - RM129
Casing ?
*
The spec is ok overall.
Upgrade option is totally up to your decision and budget to spend.
COOLER MASTER K280 is the casing model.

Somehow your budget is little tight to get a decent nvidia card.
Try

Intel i3 3220 RM344
MSI B75MA-P45 RM229
Kingston 4gb ram RM89

Leadtek GTX650 RM389

Hi guys, please recommend me a budget rig

[Budget] Below RM1000
[Purpose] Surfing, movie, spread sheet.
[Hardware that will be reuse from old rig] Monitor, speaker, keyboard, and mouse.
[Monitor resolution] 1920x1200
[Game or software that use frequently] Opera browser, windows media player, Microsoft excel.
[Personal Preference Brand] Intel, but open for other option.

My preference:
- My budget actually RM1200, but windows already cost RM200+, so I left only RM1000 to play with.
- With my budget there I should looking only at on-board graphic.
- On-board graphic able to play 1080p movie without problem.
- On-board graphic able to support up to 1920x1200 resolution, because I am using a Dell 2412M.
- On-board graphic come with DVI output.
- Prefer 8GB ram.
- I prefer Intel, but now I am building a rig without dedicated GC, so now I open for any chipset brand offer better on-board graphic option for my usage.

Thanks in advance.
*
Intel integrated graphic still capable of 1200p resolution for normal usage.
Try

Intel i3 3220 RM344
MSI H61M-P31 B3 RM155 [with VGA & DVI output]
Kingston 4gb ram RM89 [4gb still pretty much enough for normal usage]
WD Blue 500gb RM164
ACBEL ME2 / E2 300W RM89

guys need some recommendations here..... i went to lowyat and they quoted this for me
i5 3470
asus p8z77-v lx 2
kingston 4gb ram X2
ASUS GTX 660ti
WD 1tb
asus dvd-writer
sigmatek VC PSU 600w
cooler master k380

my budget is rm2500-3000, if there are any improvements u think is necessary , plz advise ... and wats the difference between leadtek and asus?? is it advisable that i upgrade to leadtek 670 over asus's 660ti since its only rm100 difference... tq for any advices ^^
*
Perhaps not much improvement needed, how bout a little budget savings by switching to other brands instead of asus?
Try

Intel i5 3570k RM679
ASROCK Z77 PRO 3 RM349
Kingston 8gb ram RM169
WD Blue 1TB RM199
Leadtek GTX670 RM1099 [same price as asus gtx 660 ti]
Seasonic S 620W RM299
Any DVD-RW RM59
Casing CM K380 RM149

Total RM3002 [You may try to nego for better price]

1. Processor upgraded, can OC if you want to. If not planning to, stick with i5 3470 is ok. The RM120 maybe can spend on better casing.
2. Asrock motherboad offers cheaper price but good enough spec.
3. Single ram and dual stick dont have much impact on performance.
4. Leadtek gtx670 have better performance than asus 660 ti despite of the looking, 8% more than asus 660 ti.
user posted image
5. I changed the power supply to a better one because Xigmatek VC not that good.

tq very much... wat about moniters? not much experience on this... a 21 inch should suffice... and can i ask more about the different brand of cards? the guys at the store said leadtek has only one fan, does this lead to any repercussions of any sort, like lesser cooling capacity or easier damaging of the cards etc etc... compared to asus (2 fans)?? are there any pro or cons besides the pricing apparently ^^
*
A 21.5' monitor is the least for 1080p resolution, maybe Dell S2240L led ips RM499.
Other brands of card = Sapphire, Gigabyte, MSI, Palit, etc.
The leadtek is reference card, comes with blower type of cooling. As long as no overclocking the temp wont be an issue.
For price and performance, gtx670 is better.
