I just have a few questions regarding android player. Now I'm looking for an option to watch live football without subscribe an Astro. I know about xbmc and it brought me here. Fyi, I already have ac Ryan pohd2 to play all of my movies which.is in mkv 720p and 1080p. Now the main purpose why I'm looking for android player was xbmc. Considering if my ac Ryan player kaput one day, which player you will recommend me? Comparing q5 vs mk808, which 1 is better to run xbmc? Please recommend which player suit to my requirements and also price. I'm at sungai petani. Pls advice.

Thank you for inquiry bro. Please allow me to clarify that xBMC and free Android apps could not compare to paid service like Astro because those free apps service avsilable are not guaranteed.

Mk808 is the HDMI dongle, Q5 is set top box. Personally I have preference with Himedia because of continuos firmware support from Himedia. Typical HDMI dongle has two challenges, first is the heat release because of the small surface area. The second challenge is the wifi receiving. If your wifi router at home is reliable and near to the TV then you may consider HTML dongle, otherwise you should consider set top box. In case of wifi signal too weak, you still have alternative LAN port as contingency.

One more point, if you plan to link your player with sound system or connect to miltiple usb then HDMI dongle is not a good choice.

The above is my personal experience, you may do more survey from the net.

Hi, I am using unifi 10MB. I need some help for the questions below. Thanks!

1. how to upgrade Q5 firmware? (I think I am currently with 1.1.1 firmware) I am downloading the firmware for Q5 in Himedia website but not sure why it take 9 hours to download the file!
2. Why all the china channel lapping?
3. PPS is dam slow! (when I view the movie menu and viewing the movie info on the screen. sometime it halt)
4. PPTV - lot of movie in PPTV give me network errors or etc when I click "Play".
5. Any new live tv or etc which I can watch others than china live tv, pptv, pps?
6. XBMC - which app I should download from "play store" and how to install it? (what are the requirement? flash and etc?)
7. What can I do with xbmc?

Before answer to your questions please allow me to share with you about what it mean by 10Mbps. The 10Mbps given by the ISP only the "last mile" best effort, it does not mean you have 10Mbps Internet bandwidth worldwide. The below photo explained what is "last mile"?

The above route shown how the Internet traffic route from Malaysia to server in China(pptv.com). The first 4 hops you will enjoy 10Mbps bandwidth, after hop 5 the Internet Infrastructure belongs ChinaMobile in Hong Kong. From there onwards TM does not ensure you have 10Mbps bandwidth any more, you might just have 1Mbps or less after hop 5 and above because the line is shared among the population in Hong Kong and China. I hope you could get what I mean in the short explanation. Normally the bandwidth to US web site no problem because there is big pipe from Malaysia/Singapore to US, but if you need to access web site in country other than US, Japan, Europe then you will have bandwidth problem.

1). If you understand the above Internet bandwidth explanation, it has explained why you need 9 hours to download the firmware. I grant my customers access to my sky drive to download the firmware which is much faster. Pls refer to my thread FAQ, question #8 about how to upgrade firmware in Q5.

2). Not all channels are lapping, my CCTV and WuNan Wei Shi is running smoothly with 1Mbps Streamyx. Again it depend on the International internet trunk between TM and China.

3). PPS has been acquired by Baidu since May, please try Baidu Apps instead of PPS as no further development since version 1.4.1.

4). I presumed you are using PPTV in the HiTV. Pls download the PPTV Phone version from the Play Store and play directly without the HiTV.

5). Yes.

6). Please download from http://code.google.com/p/xbmc-android/downloads/list, choose none Neon version.
