If someone has 1.0.3 firmware is possible to update from "settings-online update" directly....
*
Yes, you can direct update online from 1.0.3 to 1.0.4, but we will not recommend this because the download speed is too slow and the explanation is in Chinese. If you bought the unit from us, just download from my skydrive and perform the force update from the Restore button.

Hi nicety!

I have been using wifi all along and decided to plug in Ethernet but I can't seem to make it connected. Other devices connected to the source seems fine.

When I used DHCP, it shows connection failed. If I choose Static which I configured the static IP and gateway of my network, it shows connected but not able to browse internet.

Any idea?

Tested a bit yesterday and shall learn more in coming weeks smile.gif

Just want to ask, can we adjust the subtitle of the movies in the Media center Video player. The words are too huge....

Also tested MX player, its working but only on local storage, can we use external USB hdd?

Thanks bros....

For people like me, who don't like using external players in xbmc, I believe that the best working version is Gotham arm monthly alpha 8. Don't change default skin and don't overload with tons of plugins.

I presumed you are using flat network and no routing in your house network. The WIFI AP is the Switch and also Internet router.

If the above assumption is correct then the problem seems like physical layer of the network, do you have any alternative LAN switches to verify this?

If you use static ip, you can try to traceroute/ping from your PC to Q5.

To adjust the subtitle, press the Menu button on Himedia Remote control then you see the option menu appear, click subtitle in the menu option then you can see various setting of subtitle.

Yes, you can open movies from external hard disk, first add in the external HDD as the media directory from setting.

However, it is advisable to use Himedia player to play movies instead of MX Player because Himedia Player more stable and support various audio/video media files as per mentioned in the thread.

If you use Youku from HiTV then you could not switch to Cantonese unless the movies itself is in Cantonese normally the title bracket with "Cantonese". If you use Youku apps directly then just press the menu button to switch language.

Bro, not all movies in Youku are regional restricted. Only TVB and US movies are regional restricted.

To bypass regional restriction, you can use public China proxy.

Hi Nicety,
When we use the App Backup program to back up the apps before updating, its saving to the internal storage - will that be erased when we update the rom, and how do save to sd card instead?

Thanks!

Hi,

I just received my HiMedia Q5II box. When I turn it on, all i see the the words "HiMedia". I'm unable to load the menu.

So I tried updating the firmware via the reset button. I downloaded the firmware from: http://dl.himedia-tech.cn/3718/EN/1023/upd...lcore_Q5_en.zip. I followed the instructions on how to flash the device, the android robot shows up but is quickly replaced with a red box on the android robot (I guess showing failure in flashing). Any ideas on how to fix this? Perhaps I have the wrong image, can somebody pm me an image of the firmware?

Thanks in advance!

If it helps:
I'm in the US region.
I can also PM you my S/N, MAC addr.

U must have the chinese firmware on it. Remove the _en from the filename and try again.
