QUOTE(roytomas8998 @ Dec 3 2012, 01:08 PM) our defence was best when vidic-ferdinand was still around. nowadays, vidic prone to injury and ferdinand lost pace and cant play successive matches in a row. evans, jones n smalling also proned to injury. hopefully, these 3 will become the mainstay of our future defence. need to quickly groom wotton as back-up. time to get back ryan shawcross.. We either need to buck up our defence or we buck up our attack by buying in lewandowski formation 4-2-4 or 4-0-6 yo Tolonglah fergie buy atleast one defender la this coming transfer window This post has been edited by hyunterx: Dec 3 2012, 04:39 PM

SAF, pls sign this player, Juan Camilo Zúñiga.

Cause if wingers all not on form atleast can attack from center.

as our wingers are either injured and out of form, i would really think that 4-3-1-2 is worth trying... rooney operating on the hole, carrick ando cleverly/scholes in the middle... narrow but on paper it looks good though please come back soon, kagawa!!!

Cause if wingers all not on form atleast can attack from center. i knowlah. 4-6-0 doesnt mean that all are midfielder players and no strikers. its actually 4-4-2 anyway. its sort of a hybrid formation. when attacking, there should be 2 wingers n 2 strikers/ forward who can interchange position. when defending, all the attacking players drop to midfield, thus creating a "false" 6 men midfield formation to snuff out potential attacks from opposition. if attack from center, teams like norwich definitely will pack everyone in the middle, thus we still need wingers who could double up as wing-backs. nani definitely doesn't fit the bill coz he's not that good at defending/tracking back. but its interesting to see if mufc play against strong team like Barcelona and Bayern Munich. Tactically, we can beat them ala Celtic tactics.. technically...

Sir Alex Ferguson says Jose Mourinho is capable of replacing him at Old Trafford» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson says Jose Mourinho is capable of replacing him in the Old Trafford hotseat.
Ferguson stopped short of saying Mourinho should replace him when he finally retires, but he believes the Portuguese has the qualities that would be needed to take over the Old Trafford hotseat.
Ferguson told ITV4: "He can manage anywhere, absolutely. I'm not going to put any forecasts on what is going to happen at this club. I won't last forever, but Jose can manage anywhere, there is no question about that."
Mourinho had little success as a player but as a coach he has already won 21 trophies from 10 years in the dugout.
"I would never think a guy who hasn't played a game could be a top coach, but then you've got to look at his personality, I think his personality does it," Ferguson added.
"He's got a marvellous, strong personality and I think that bridges that gap.
"That's incredible (his trophy haul). How old is he now? Fiftieth year. So he is 20 years behind me. At the same rate he is going to add another 42 trophies. At the current rate, (that is) amazing isn't it?"
When he arrived at Chelsea Mourinho caused a media storm when he referred to himself as a 'Special One', a nickname which has stuck with him.
"I remember his first press conference (at Chelsea) and I thought 'he's cocky, him'," Ferguson said.
"He was telling the players, 'Look, I'm the Special One, we don't lose games'...coming to England, he is only a young man and saying he is the Special One!
"But what it did, it told all the players to have the belief they were going to win the league."
Mourinho himself has made no secret of his desire to return to England - speculation as to where has raged ever since he left Chelsea in 2007 - and he told the programme he would like to win the Champions League with an English club.
With his Madrid side still in this year's competition and having won it already at Porto and Inter, Mourinho said: "In my whole career everything was perfect, the only thing I didn't do, and I hope I can do it one day, is to win a Champions League with an English club."
According to the man many view as a 'mini Mourinho', though, a greater motivation burns for his old mentor.
Until he joined Tottenham in the summer, Andre Villas-Boas' career had mirrored Mourinho's, taking in Porto and Chelsea, although he lasted significantly less time at Stamford Bridge.
But he knows Mourinho well having scouted for him at Chelsea and Inter, and believes the chance to manage his country will one day tempt his old boss.
"Here was a person coming out of a completely different education. He changed the way people trained. Changed the way people spoke about the game, he said.
"I have to say at this moment, if I am sitting here it is because Jose changed the legacy of Portuguese football.
"I think he will be extremely driven to win the World Cup for his country. And when that happens, when statistically he's the best manager that has ever been then I think he will finally leave the game." http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11...at-Old-Trafford

Sir Alex reveals defensive plansQUOTE Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed his defensive plans for Wednesday's Champions League tie against CFR Cluj at Old Trafford.
The boss hopes to have Nemanja Vidic available to make his comeback, although the skipper is unlikely to be considered for the top-of-the-table showdown with Manchester City.
The Reds will field a much-changed line-up, as in the previous fixture against Galatasaray, with qualification as group winners already assured.
"I’m hopeful maybe Vidic will play," stated the manager. "I think there’s a good chance he will but it depends on how he feels himself.
"It allows me to give Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Vidic [a game] in a strong back-four and Alexander Büttner would be left-back. There’s a good foundation to start in the game in terms of respecting the challenge between Galatasaray and Cluj [for second place]. I think we’re doing the right thing."
Vidic's return would provide a real boost ahead of the midweek encounter against the Romanian outfit.
"I knew Vida was doing really well with the physios," explained Sir Alex. "He was doing his football training with them in terms of turning and striking the ball but he came into training last Monday with the first team and did okay.
"He’s a battler, an absolute competitor. He’s got that dour, uncompromising way of his. He likes defending – that’s what he does."
There has been plenty of debate as to whether Manchester City could benefit in the title race if Roberto Mancini's team fail to qualify for the Europa League.
"City need to beat Borussia Dortmund," affirmed the boss. "I don't think losing for a big club is very healthy. On one hand you can be fresh for the second half of the season and play a fresh team every week but how do you keep them all happy if they’re out of the League Cup and they go out of the European Cup? I don’t know enough about the City players as I’ve never worked with any of them apart from Carlos Tevez. Sometimes players want to play every week. And you want to keep the momentum going and the interest going.
"I don’t know if City would have an advantage. I’m not sure it would suit them. You can spend more time on the training ground, no question, but then you have to deal with the fact you’re not in European football and every manager wants to do well in Europe. I do anyway." http://www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Features...ed-vs-cluj.aspx

QUOTE(mrkenn @ Dec 3 2012, 11:45 PM) Mourinho super mind games and very controversial...SAF cannot match him lah.... Wow, you know that you are a new Man Utd fan when you say Mourinho's mind games are a lot better than SAF. SAF has been mind-gaming opposing managers since the 1990s. Case in point, Kevin Keegan's outburst. Go Google that please.
