Don't migrate to xboxlive malaysia. Limited marketplace, limited apps, games and services, no gold. The only advantage is, as some have pointed out is that marketplace items might be cheaper.

Will I have any problems dowloading patches or DLC given the fact that my console and games are all US versions now that I am in Malaysia

I know for a fact that certain games like Gears have probelms with downloading DLC due to the those being region locked.

I can only recall Gears having this problem.

Anyone have any experience problems with other games?

Only got problem on your account for DLC. For GoW case you must use US account and download using US carrier. a VPN can help on this.

This kinda problem is usually console independent.

If I migrate to US account from SG, which state should I use for the address cause if I remember correctly there is some state in the US which has cheaper games to buy because of tax exemptions

Irrelavant as same game price across XBL.

You can just get an address from USABox.com and register that address.
