Actually you can set DMZ for Xbox360, bcoz its not hackable like a PC (Never put pc on DMZ). Putting yr Xbox360 ip on DMZ would get you Open NAT type.

@Navigator its safe dont worry

No it does not. To open up NAT just go search the article on how to free the necessary port for XBOX LIVE. My router is XBOX Live certified XD

@IccyAsd: I'm not convinced that it's safe to put anything that connect to public network to DMZ. Not even if it's a console that is not supposed to have any network exploit.

hmm..really? i read an article from here internet optimisation
it said that the latency can be increased and ping also can be reduced

just curious about this cuz i've been so frustrated that the opponent always left out because of lower latency

If you are comparing both Open Nat Type (DMZ or proper Port Forwarding) there is no increase in Latency, but still it only depends on certain games. Most FPS/Arcade VS game need you to be on Open Nat type to have good connection, it would speed up your player search compare to moderate or restricted Nat Type.

@Navigator: Logically the time you spend on the console "On" its too short to get hack, even if you get hacked you lose nothing.

Well, I just don't feel easy on running any DMZ publicly.... and Gamerscore & Microsoft point is a big thing to loose. or if someone did something for my console to get banned...

I think yur latency is not because of DMZ even if it increase latency, it's not that dramatic......

Anyway you may use the port forwarding via XBOX LIVE Support instruction instead of DMZ if you seriously feel DMZ is increasing your latency. no harm in doing it if you router have a "reset" button. icon_idea.gif

If your peers are to far away i.e. at US, that might be the reason of high latency and lately TM also having some stability issue.... My connection with a friend at kajang can get dropped when playing Spartan Ops.... doh.gif

It's not yur wifi causing lag dude as we all running on wifi. No one wants a cable to run around da house.

The only thing you need to do now is try disable DMZ & do port forwarding. People around here playing on LIVE even before the launch of XBOX360. Their suggestion worth a try.

unifi issue 4 items. 1 modem, 1 router and the rest of the items i dont give a fark.

swapping the router is straight forward. its a DIR615 default router and "OK" router dont expect it to be better than gaming routers.
