Hi. I need all you ICE sifu out there to help me choose the best sound quality set up for a Satria GTI. My budget around RM2k. I already have a Clarion HU..not sure which model. Anyway, I need recommendation on the best SQ set up I can get for my budget, speaker and amps and EQ only. My type of music is mostly Jazz, pop, circullar and once in awhile a lil rock music. Planning to just get 1 pair of component system for the front. Is it more then enough? Do I need subs? Please do help me smile.gif

Is not stock. Is quite good, one of the higher range in Clarion series. But forgot the model number liao. Is in my dad's X-trail, and he's outstation. He's gonna give it to me. biggrin.gif . Anyway I've found second hand Alpine 6.5" component speaker set, Type - R , Coustic Signal processor active crossover and a 12inch OEM Kicker sub. Any feedback from all this stuff? Is it good or is it very terrible? Just need someone to recommend me two, 2 channel amp. One to drive the component and one more for subs..

If SQ is what you are seeking for. Sound system alone won't get you far. You need some dampening on your car as well. Like

Dynamat Extreme
Sika Damp
Raamat (if I'm not wrong with the spealling)

If someone happens to sell 'OEM kicker' ... better don't buy it as Kicker don't do OEM stuffs.

maybe you should get a better decent amp to drive ur comp for a better sq. and why you need preamp? as you mentioned, you having a high end clarion hu, most probably you can adjust everything in the hu function. but please check ur hu model 1st if it does come with the function as preamp.

preamp = old style = no need biggrin.gif

1 set components at the front is enough, add a single 12" subs in a ported enclosure for the rear. and you might need only a 4-channel amp (with sufficient watts of course). very basic setup i should say.... all that is left is too have the correct speaker placements and HU tuning, plus some sound dampening if you mind.

I now have a new budget of RM2.3k for front component + amp. For the front component I planning to put in the Focal Polyglass 165v2, for amp, I'm not so sure yet, but the shop recommend me a Mohawk 800 Watts 2 channel amp to drive my speakers. What do you think about this set up? I listen mostly to songs like John Mayor, Jazz, circullar music, and once in awhile Black Eyed Peas, and some rock music, so nice bass response from my system will also be nice! Should I put in a 12" Sub also? If yes what kind of Sub do you recommend best for SQ? I read a few forums saying the Mohawk Orange sub is good for SQ..Please help... notworthy.gif notworthy.gif notworthy.gif notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

how much is the polygrass? which particular 165v2? they have 165KF, 165K2P, 165K3P, and 165KP

unless you're choosing the 165K2P/165K3P (which are rated 100w/200w rms).... probably you may get SoundStream XTA180.2.... about RM500 I saw someone selling at Lelong at brand new.

mohawk to drive polyglass?
hell NO !
u'll end up having ear pain i'd say

focal comps are bright
u need some warm amp like steg, sinfoni, morel to tame them

got 1 fella is selling MRV407 for RM800
this amp is pre F#1 status and i would rate it a good amp
70 x 4 rms power
interested?
then with the remaining u can actually opt for Alpine Type X comps
which are very good too

say no to mohawk orange sub too. you can't get SQ with the sub. too boomy and bassy for SQ. unless you send to pro to tune ur system. anyway, just believe your ears.
