Hello everyone!

I've been searching around for a forum that pianists (or violinists) of Malaysia use, but I haven't been able to find any. (Note: if you know of one, please post the link!)

I play both the piano and violin, and am living in Malaysia here.
I've been hoping to try to connect with other similar musicians living here, since I don't really have much interaction with other musicians living here.

Allow me to introduce myself:

I've been playing the piano for 13 years. I started playing violin 7 years ago, but I quit for a few years and have started playing it again just recently.
So far I've taken the 1st and 2nd piano diploma exams by Trinity College, and I'm going to try for the highest diploma exam next year.
I like playing all sorts of music. Although I play a lot of classical music, I also enjoy playing modern music sometimes, especially anime theme songs or Final Fantasy piano works.

How about some introductions from everyone else?

Wow. Both piano and violin,i've been aiming the same instrument but,due to income and budget,it might take quite some time and determination to these. Anyway,i've been also too search for any other pianist or violinist in Malaysia, but,i ended up at a forum called PianoWORLDForum. My last post in there was quite unexpected because a Malaysian also took part in replying my post as well. And,do you happen to have a youtube channel?

Yeah, it is expensive! And it took lots of time. For piano alone, I'm supposed to practice 2 or 3 hours a day sad.gif but I'm kind of lazy.
I will go look at PianoWORLDForum smile.gif
I was thinking about making a Youtube channel, but it's such a pain to set up the camera for recording...haha. If I do, I'll post here!
Do you have a Youtube channel?

Cool, good luck! But you should get a teacher for proper basics, or you might develop bad habits. Violin is so hard to learn alone!
I learned some things the wrong way for a few years before I found a great teacher, and then I had to re-train my habits. It was hard.

I'm an ABRSM Grade 7 Practical and Theory certified (Distinction), gave music education a 10 year break and am currently doing my Proficiency & Diploma in Performance under the Australian GUILD syllabus. I always laugh at most Diploma and degree holders in Music. most of them cant event play a simple pop song without score. I asked them to play by ear...and they asked ' IF no score...how to play? Give me the score la...sure can play'

There...whatever degree is also useless!

Hi all. I'm a violinist and violist. I've been playing violin for 4 years now. Now pursuing my degree in music education. Yeah, there are diploma and degree musician must have piece in order to play a certain classical piece (unless they have been analyzing, researching, mastering the certain pieces until they can memorize it). Classical pieces is full of detail and most musician will play it according to the piece as a respect to the composer.

However, a good violinist can play pop music by ear. But give us time to search for the best position before we can play it fluently.

Anyway, nice to meet all of you biggrin.gif
