I am curious to know what food in SG that you cant find in MY. Afterall, most food in SG comes from MY. rejected chef in MY go work in SG.

Reject? Don't say until that way. Do you know that there is a famous Bat kut Teh stall in KL 9don't know the name), the cook is actually trained and learn his skills from SG and went back to eventually open a stalls pack with long queue? Watch the documentary on TV few years ago? Some food are not original from MY, but from SG. Anyway, it does not matter, whoever cook and tasted better, good for everyone. does not have to be from which ever country.

But we are talking about food that cannot get in MY as mentioned. so i am curious to know what food.

As for the chefs. There are exceptional cases. One chef train from SG does not turn into the food made in SG. Majority of food in SG ORIGINATE from MY. Some of the food that are featured in SG taste bad. Famous here famous there but go try... Most of the time it is dissapointment. Unlike MY less dissapointment.

As for BKT they use to make pepper based soup in SG and calked it BKT. until recent years they started having MY type of BKT that is herbal based. Those pepper based BKT sucks.

And they still put tomato sauce in noodles...yuck

Understand that we are talking about food, but it does not mean anything if you food isn't nice regardless of where it originated from. I am not going to dispute with you what you said, but just that there is no boundary. Some years back, there was a thread debating on who originate what kind of food and even some food claim to be MY was originally from SG. So there is no point for us in travel thread to about originality. More importantly, what is nice to eat. We should put down our own prejudice or bias towards certain things. imagine asking a tourist say from UK about what he/she like most about say... MY or SG food, the answer can be very different from what you think. To each his/her own. So we should all put side this to purely enjoy what ever you like dislike about food in SG. Personally, there more road side food that taste better than SG. However, put it in healthy sense, SG food is more healthy because a lots of stuff already been tone down, with less of this and that.... so much that the taste has also changed.

hi guys, i see most on the hotel booking, it states the max adult inside the hotel = 2 .. what happens if 3 or 4 people "sneaking" in ... a few days trip, to save cost, opt for 1 room and shared among 3 or 4 people is economic but this against the law there ?

Frankly, I am not too worried. I had done it many times in SG. Why? because my kids won't stay in another room. Booking extra room means wasting money. I had also explained to hotel staff about my booking before, and none seems to bother. Subsequently, I didn't bother at all. Can you answer me this question, if I said I have guests who come and visit me at the hotel, can they stopped me? NO. So long as there is no complain from your neighbours, no problem.

However, if you book budget type, I am not sure as it can be quite visible. So kind of risky. I had booked many times both in SG and MY hotel with 1 room for a family of 5 (kids were young) and even now, say just for a night at Dorsett Regency KL (deluxe room offers 2x queen's bed that can sleep 4) I book 1 room and sleep somewhere else in the room. My kids and wife all on bed. Even during check in, I tell the staff that I am checking in my family or wife, not myself. After all, I used to check in hotel rooms in SG for my family and them left for work and come back at night to sleep.

It all very depends on you. I had once asked a hotel in Penang and KL regarding this issues, they claimed it is not allowed but they normally won't asked the guest just in case it is wrong. it is embarrassing from the hotel position asking such private issue. So they won't really bother unless they received complain. But it is really up to you. I once experience something embarrassing in UK budget hotel. I think the staff knew my booking very well and was asking me about the no. of pax, but I told him have my own lodging and they were there visiting me. I actually booked a room with an extra bed. My kid was only 5 years old then. Good thing was, the staff ran on shift, so could not recognise me coming in during the day and night. Mind you, the counter staff always look whenever some one took the lift at night.

Hey guise, does the Singapore custom check thoroughly your bag? Plan to bring canned foods and maggi there. Is it allowed? Will travel by bus.
*
SG custom only look out for chewing gum and poultry stuff like chicken and meat which is still banned. of course, you may be able to bring it in depending on how lenient the officers on duty. Anyway, at most, they will ask you to go to a room and sign a form telling you those stuff are banned and then discard it in front of you. Not as serious as those illegal stuff. I have friends kana before. just last week, heard from colleague, some one managed to bring in a pack of Bak Kua and another 1, 1 whole chicken. Officer on duty didn't stop her. usually, Chicken will show up under x-ray, but wonder why no one bother. Both of them travel by bus. Maybe, they are bit more lenient due to CNY.
