Do you know the material of disc brakes make of? Is it ceramic?
It isn't ceramic, it usually made of grey iron. It is prone to corrosion, or in your term - RUST.
Have a good read over here for your own knowledge, you will benefit from it.

Rust will take time to form, so how long was the Viva you inspected have exposed to wet condition as compared to the Preve? You have no idea don't you?
Will the Viva disc brake rust?

Again, you think that Preve use high performance brakes? Seriously what make you think so that a normal sedan use high performance parts and sell at reasonable price?
VW Golf TSI uses brembo disc  brake? Just wonder.

Rusty exhaust holder is a known issue and Proton has addressed to all dealers to provide measurement to overcome this matter.
I have seen Unser where the rust issue was horrible, the whole floor panel rust and it isn't just one unit. Seriously Unser that reliable to you? It was mean to be a goods carrier but Malaysians treated it as a MPV.
Oh ya, for your information where I obtained from Brembo brakes website, their disc brakes are made of high carbon iron. Iron with high carbon content usually are higher in tensile strength compared to iron with low carbon content, FYI.

How to know they updated both ecu and tcu. Some of them said the sc only update tcu but not ecu. Also, when cold start rpm not stable, keep up and down. Normal issue?
ALso, where got new ecu/tcu feedback? Want to check through then update. Later regret.

I know tcu improves acceleration and power. what about ecu?

ok thanks. Because everytime i go eon sg pinang, the sa all very.... like don't know anything. Some technician also same, all also don't know. Later they use old ecu and tcu also don't know. the head also not there every time, depends on luck also.
Anyway, still any issue with new ecu and tcu other than the engine mati if slot D>R fast ?

Had a trip to Sauk - Kuala Kangsar few hours ago for a dinner.
Had bad experience with Preve on the highway, the car hardly above to accelerate from 110km/h up to 150km/h....

Very much unlike what I had with the OLD ecu.
Hopefully its because of new ECU/TCU still learning my driving habit coz this is my first trip with more than 110km/h after the ECU/TCU mapping

Perhaps TCU/ECU need to time to relearn everything.....
I'm still getting pretty bad FC....but pickup is much better than before.

Pickup and RPM stable are stable, but not the top end performance. I never feel struggle to accelerate a Preve from 110km/h to 150km/h, and that's on a flat surface.
FC equally bad still.
13l/100km for city driving.

Still too early to judge the ECU/TCU mapping performance, its not even first tank after the remap, as I dun trust the average fuel consumption on the SID, will only use fuelly stat.

anyone tried sitting at the back of preve, moving along those taman uneven road...

notice the rattling noise on the speaker dashboard and the noise from outside is really annoying!! it is totally diff when sitting infront as the driver..

Preve need some improvement on the noise level inside the car if it wish to be a global car.....there are some other minor things not right about the car but I would just brush it aside since it is not much of a problem..ex: the front passenger door need to close harder than the rest, the boot of the car is not properly fit (a bit slanting, notice during my first wash on the car, was admiring the backside when I notice it    ), 'krik krik krik' sound inside the car (still figuring out where the sound come from)..

Heard a lot of good feedback from u guys who has done the ECU/TCU remap. Other than Allen's who's managed to drive the car on a long range trip where the top speed is capped at 150-160 only. Well that's one thing is what mak me stop & think again whether should I update it or not. But like Maverick said, his FC is already good but when he drove kiapreve's car the diff is there, damn it's so tempting..

Anyhow, quick update, done 3rd service (10k) at Semambu's Proton SC (cost RM210). Been here 2nd time edy after Doctor AGF recommended me here few months ago (Thanks Doc. They also have that free-flow hot drinks for you there..)

- I don't think they have updated my ECU/TCU as my car still the same
- Tried to have me installed the magnetrap, which i sternly refused
- They know of the exhaust bracket rust. They didn't have it cleaned with sand paper first. Instead they applied the black paint directly on top of it. A poor workmanship IMO
- Submit the car at 2.10PM, got the car back 6.00PM. Almost 4 hours. When collecting the car the SA explained that my car are in the list of Proton's call back to replace the power window. Changed all except for driver's side since they have run out of stock. Will call me again when they have it.

Just my 2 cents, if it is in P2 SC, after collecting the car key from the owner, then went for the initial checking of the car, the SA will come and inform u first that they will need to change the power window bla bla bla thus you will need to wait a bit longer... But here they kept it silent. I've been wondering what were they doing with my car during that time but got nobody to ask in the office! This one old habit need to be thrown down the toilet edy laa.. Haiyya..

BTW, still loving my car. After almost sharp 6 months of using it, latest full tank (yesterday) still 754km can go. Used to have 8.6l/100km when being driven in Terengganu but after 3 months in KL it just went up to 10.00l/100km

Well they quoted me RM60 for it. In term of pros & cons, got not so much of a comment since I'm noob in this matter as well. But it has been debated few thread's back about whether it will actually works or not. IMHO, I'll wait a bit more until let say 20k then maybe I'll add it.

I think can but saw none of the customer went there so I decided not to go. I wish I did though. The waiting area is kinda comfy at least for me but u got no visibility of the outside. BTW, got an experience with PJ Volcar (I believe its PE SC) in Seapark, PJ where the waiting room is at the centre of the service bay. I mean u'll need to walk through the service bay before u can enter into the waiting room. The mechanic there seems like doesn't even know about the ECU/TCU remap but instead kep on telling me to have the car serviced despite my ODO is just 9468 at that time.. If I got my car serviced there I may be able to ask them something.

yup, bumpy and noisy..noise coming in from the doors and also from  the boot area..need to DIY sound proof..

my remedy for the 'ROAR' sound...be gentle with your accelerator ..never go beyond 2k rpm during move from stop position .. 

what did you use for the DIY soundproof? Insuflex or Superlon? Try this for the fender noise

you even do on the doors and hood? I put rubber on my 4 doors already make it very hard to close.

Actually the correct procedure is, whoever read and receive the email, will print out and show everyone. Brief technician and SA.
For my previous post, it was typo. I struggle to accelerate from 110km to 150km/h, flat surface. The engine roar like mad, like Vios....sigh
Perhaps my car still very much virgin if with 4k mileage, since all the 4k are done within city. Hardly speed above 120km/h
Hey guys, tried the engine mounting mod with fuel line. Effective DIY mod, cheap and easy.

Bro Arthur, regarding the software learning our driving style, I'm quite confused about this. 

Logically and theoretically, TCU learning driving style should happen in minutes, but not take days or weeks. I say this because if a family car that shares between family members, some of them drive gently, some heavy foot, so which style the software should adapt to?

From what my friend who was a Peugeot salesman told me last time (knowledge from their training), the system adapt to the driver's driving style and decide when to shift gear (or shift ratio in CVT), this happened within minutes we start driving the car. Whenever we stop the engine, removed the key, the software will revert back to normal (default) setting on the next engine start. This sound more logical to me, what is the point if the car took so long (days or weeks) to learn a driver's driving style? Adapting individual style for optimal shift pattern should be better than took days or weeks to sum up all the drivers' style and give average shift pattern right?
I am ok with the engine and CVT sound, maybe I seldom do rush-driving. My main complain about "noise" is the tyre noise, extremely annoying. Not sure if the original tyres too noisy or and sound proof not so good?

their head technician update ecu and tcu for me. After update, the initial power really great. I straight go highway and test, press metal awhile already 100km/h.
But I can feel the jerk little bit although reduced alot. climb hill is a piece of cake. I can feel turbo kicks in at 1.8 rpm already.

Red lights more Audi feel mar.... hehehe.....! Actually I like it more than my previous Persona's orange lights, haha....
