looking at the spare part lists in the Preve and saw this

48 [All] Bonnet Insulation  PW931919  RM0.00

duh..no spare part price for the bonnet insulation  doh.gif

No need so susah la. Go korek korek from Jerie. He has already replaced with STP. So the original is likely lying idle somewhere.

and they changing his car 4 side power window also...

I'm a bit confused by the power window recall. When I read the bulletin, it says .. "Symptom - 1. Possible malfunction Front LH, Rear LH, Rear RH power window assembly."

By my understanding, 'possible' doesn't make it a mandatory recall. So, if it ain't broken, why fix it? Furthermore, their suggested recourse/fix is to simply apply grease to the coil spring to eliminate/diminish power window 'klak klak' noise during operation caused by the rubbing of the coil spring. No mention of replacing the motor unit. Also no mention of the driver's door bulging outwards.

But the motor more powerful than before. The window winds up quickly and faster. This is what I felt.
*

My driver side power window motor was quite powerful when the car was new. Not long after that, I started getting the rubber 'ketat' symptom leading to 'klak klak' sound when winding the window midway up. That was easily fixed with a quick spray of silicon lube but motor is no longer as powerful as it once was. I can live with that so long as window 'janji' to go all the way up.

QUOTE(gkl83 @ Nov 21 2012, 03:51 PM)
as statement above, they may afraid the 2nd batch owner thought it is compulsory to change since it solved... that why the stated "Possible"
*
Bulletin did mention it only affects chassis numbers ranging from 274 to 11391. Then again, if the windows for the 2nd batch aren't misbehaving, why would anyone require to have that looked into? As for me, I'm not comfortable with the unnecessary stripping of my doors' trimmings.

Btw, car is indeed more responsive after ecu/tcu remap. Don't be expecting a huge improvement but the change is noticeable. I strongly recommend those that haven't done it yet to head towards the SC to make their appointments. The upgrade is free and it takes approximately an hour to do so. Did mine at SC Cheras behind Connaught.

anyone here using VS on preve?

I think I was one of the earlier ones. So far, it's been smooth. Wont say it'll totally solve the occasional brightening of the HU's display but I do believe the frequency of such incidents has lessened.

when i start get my car headlamp also got dimming abit..less that 1 sec dimming

A car's starter demands a lot of juice from the battery. No suprise if headlights dimmed a bit. Personally, I think it may be wiser to not have headlights set to 'Auto' before attempting to start the vehicle.

mine is 9xxx, falls under 1st batch... usually wind down n up when entering malls, imagine if half way up, all the hassle we have to face.
*
If problem persist after applying silicon lube, then I recommend a visit to nearest SC (in your case, the Cheras SC behind Connaught). No need to go all the way to COSE and waste an entire day waiting there.

Can't trust everything that the SA says. Some people will promise 'Heaven & Earth' to close the sale. On a personal note, if my SA drives a Preve, I'm more likely to believe him tongue.gif Mine unfortunately drives a Vios vmad.gif

Donno about others but my wife's the one first realized whenever u turned on the air cond then try step out of the car. When ur feet firat touch the floor u should feel the wind blows from under our preve.. Tested it after that and i was  shocking.gif

Yeah .. the radiator's fan is very strong; blows so much hot air towards your leg as you alight from the vehicle. So much so that I nowadays stop the engine when I'm pumping air into the tires. Otherwise, you get a face full of hot air.

For the price it ask for, I can live with a few bugs.

Despite the above, I have no regret over my purchase. Do you?

If ppl do not want to buy Proton, that's OK. Better because there will be less ppl when you go to SC.

You would do me a great service by not buying Proton and causing me long queue when I go to SC.
*
Lol .. that's so true. I see more & more Preves on the road these days. Slowly losing the exclusivity.

I dont care much on pregnant PW or gluk gluk gluk sound. But my PW always stuck when wind up. The window glass will pull the outer rubber going into the window track make it stuck. So imagine when going through toll plaza during heavy rain. mad.gif
*
I used to have the same trouble. Then I used silicon lube on the rubber linings and the problem went away. Simple fix

What's the damage price-wise? And how much comfort is sacrificed for said performance?

Damage? PM for Drex Chan in Prevoc FB.
Comfort? No idea yet, feel the car is much stable and solid in cornering.
I hardly bring in any passengers, so not really priority in that.
*
Thank you for the reply. There's way too many road humps in my taman. I'm more concerned about comfort.

BTW, I have updated to the latest ECU and TCU and so far the impression on my day to day driving experience has been great i.e. good pick up from stationary, no jerking at low speed and can increase speed up to 170 with ease (ran out of road on a short sprint). So far so good.
*
So, would you say this trip to the SC was time well spent? brows.gif

Would not be able to comment about the FC though
*

I'm not sure about the FC either. Haven't been outside of my taman since the remap. Looking at the 'instant' FC meter, it does look thirstier.

Despite some reports of the engine being quieter after the remap, I think my engine growls a bit more after the remap. Is your's the same? Or is it just me being more aggressive on the pedal?

regarding the radio reception...i have the same problem too..can hear static noise most of the time..and yes..it happened mostly during driving time...already asked around here last time..some members got the same problem too..not sure what is the solution though..if you found the solution..let me know..im abit annoyed with it too
*

I hear that the GPS & radio shares the same antennae. Could be that which is causing poor radio reception.

Good point. Most people dont realise that new cars come with over pressurised tyres.

Much as we Preve owners do not enjoy other people passing disparaging remarks of our vehicles, I believe we should also refrain from doing the same onto Almera owners.

Both cars are different. Preve is more of a driver's car while Almera is likely a car we would buy for our wives' city driving needs.
