Even if they did send me replacement cards, and I refuse to activate those replacement cards, what can they do? Those replacement cards will not activate itself.
*
Check with the bank whether the GST is charged even the card is not activated or not.

Even if your card is eligible for the 2 years AF waiver as per stated previously (for new card), they will tell you the same. They tried to twist and turn but finally I managed to get them issue a black and white to my online banking inbox that my card is indeed having the 2 years AF waiver. SCB CS is tricky.

By default Standard Chartered will send the statement to mailing address right?
If I only need eStatement and do not want the paper statement, I have to do it online?
Any charges if I swap from paper statement to eStatement?

Thanks
*
For new cards, the default is eStatement. They even converted my paper statement to eStatement when I applied for new cards, and I have to send a request to revert back to paper statement. No charges for my case.

received notice of cancellation through SMS after 14 days, after forwarding a complaint to BNM. Nobody from SCB respond to my email or online message. My choicepoints were not transferred to my other card as instructed in my letter. Made a call to their careline and was put on hold for 15 mins, 3 times and still no one responded to my call.

I am not very clear myself. If it is something 'exciting', I would expect that SCB would want to disseminate it in a bigger way biggrin.gif

I received my SC Platinum Visa Card 2 weeks ago, just wonder where to find the benefits/offers of this card. In its website, it mentions card holder can enjoy discount in shopping & dinning, but where to find the list of shops and restaurants? Thanks.

I saw in some threads(posted back in 2011) that it is possible to do card cancellation on SCB website, but I couldn't find any link myself. Anyone mind to teach me how to do that? I prefer not to talk to their cs.

Hello guys...I have several questions here that I hope you could help me clarify.

I got my SC card from the Groupon offer, the RM300 cash back.

1) From my understanding, cash back means they practically just give that RM300 to you to spend. Is it that straightforward?
2) Do we get RM50 government tax deducted immediately? If yes, that means the actual value we're getting is RM250, yes?
3) After getting the RM300 cash back (I heard it'll be fully given after 30 days), can we then cancel it the following month/whenever later without any charge?
4) Since I read that the benefits and privileges under SC cards have decreased, I might not want to keep it for that long. Out of curiosity, if I were to cancel it and when there's another cash back promotion later, will I be eligible to reapply?

But all in all, the burning question for me is...why is the bank being so generous to give this much of cash back? Not just SC, I see other banks are doing it too.
What's the catch? They just want people to sign up and hope that half of them have problems managing their spending and end up being tied to them forever or? unsure.gif

Thanks ahead for your help!

Btw, it seems like SC Visa Platinum doesn't have any rebates on those dining, bills, etc. unlike other banks. Am I right?
If yes, I guess not much reason to keep it after the RM300 cash backs are fully given.

SCB has a different type of offer for dinings. Refer here:

Yeah, I went there tadi. But too many places are not within Penang...so, not much point. And I don't eat out at restaurants much too =)

Btw, Human Nature and all...do you know if banks will kinda blacklist you if you cancel your credit cards after a few months' time or is it better to keep it eventhough you won't be using it? A friend of mine said that canceling within months will make my 'history' bad over time and suggested that I just keep it for a year or so before doing so (and since I'm not using it, just let it be an emergency card, etc.)
The only trouble is having too many cards at a later time when I apply from other banks. Sorry for asking related questions cuz this didn't cross my mind earlier.

Appreciate your inputs.
*
Let me reply by an example. I cancelled several SCB cards after holding them for several months and I am not worried about being blacklisted by SCB because there are many other banks. It doesn't affect my application for a new card from another bank (and I believe others too) either. As long as I settle all outstanding balance before due date, then I got nothing to worry about.

how about the petrol rebate? the 15% rebate will be accumulated until 6 months? after 6 months then no more rebate?

No idea about that as I did not participate in this promo. Others will provide an answer or search this thread for some info.
