Did some off camera flash with Nex6.Shot with power zoom and using A-mount adapter with SAL 50mm 2.8 macro. As a general camera think the size and power zoom is more than adequate but for off camera flash is a little weird to use.First off if you are constantly relying evf to frame shot like myself and a left eye user you will be obstructed by flat-bed trigger type (like phottix stratos) as hot-shoe position is too close to viewfinder.Somehow I will stick back with dslr if doing off camera flash. Still need to get familiarized with handling first as now just felt a little underwhelmed by it.Perhaps with prolong usage I'll get to like it more. Some tweaks and cropping done on Lightroom with jpeg. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « This post has been edited by crazeoneeighteen: Nov 11 2012, 10:02 PM

If you are expecting creamy bokeh for your head and shoulder portrait, all I can say is to avoid sigma 30mm 2.8 but as a walkaround lens it's sharp and worth the money.Great for street type of photography.
Furthermore for portrait angle you need to close in a lot like one step away from subject. It's more of half or full body portrait.Mindful minimum focus distance is about 12 inch.

QUOTE(sengwee1988 @ Nov 23 2012, 04:42 PM) For that, I've decided to wait for the SEL35F18 Easily more than double the price lorr.Lol!!! Wishful thinking is for sigma to come out with black 50mm or a 60mm macro so can match my nex.

QUOTE(idoblu @ Nov 26 2012, 06:38 AM) Crazeoneighteen, fabulous pics. Which lens are you using for these photos? Thanks SAL 50mm f2.8 Macro,a not so "laku" lens because most macro shooter would prefer the 90/100 mm range. To me I really dig this range and sort of a 2 in 1 lens like a nifty 50 and a zoom with leg.CZ is releasing the same focal length for nex next year but can not justify the cost if you are not making money with it.Kinda hope tamron or sigma will release one!

QUOTE(rhoyo @ Nov 28 2012, 08:43 AM) was wondering anybody here have NEX7 .. gonna buy a new camera since i left the canon .. Might want to hold on a bit as CES 2013 is very near, gonna be another major announcement from sony.Might or might not have new development for nex but it's worth to see what in store. If not concern over megapixels,nex6 is a better alternative from feature wise.

QUOTE(poolcarpet @ Nov 28 2012, 10:08 AM) Anyone tried Canon L lenses with NEX before? I tried my 70200 f2.8l and 1635 f2.8l.The weight and handling is ridiculous.Almost can feel lens can snap from adaptor. Unless it's mounted on leg but then might as well use back dslr.

QUOTE(merchant9 @ Nov 28 2012, 06:10 PM) When attach with big lens, normally ppl carry the lens rather than the body right? Normally big lens on native dslr body don't need manual focus right? Granted my 70200 and 1635 weights like a brick like most fast L lens. This post has been edited by crazeoneeighteen: Nov 28 2012, 08:27 PM

QUOTE(merchant9 @ Dec 4 2012, 08:31 AM) THE SEL1018 finally showed up on Sony.com.my and the selling price is RM2,799. Source: http://www.sony.com.my/productcategory/nex-lensI am looking at SEL50F18 as my low light lens. Then I realized I have a few questions: 1. Can anyone explain what is Direct Manual Focus? I know AF and MF but I dont know DMF. 2. Is the SEL50F18 only available in Silver but not Black? 3. This SEL50F18 is actually 75mm in Full Frame, correct? 4. Is it shaper than the SEL24F18Z? Lastly, where can I find Fotodiox adapters? Specifically the two (2) below. We have some Canon EF lenses which we would like to mount on our NEX-6. Hopefully the AF still works! http://fotodioxpro.com/index.php/fotodiox-...efs-lenses.htmlhttp://fotodioxpro.com/index.php/fotodiox-...nt-adapter.html1. DMF = auto+manual focussing, once you lock auto focus by half pressing shutter button you shift focus manually whereby a magnified screen will pops up.There you tweak your final focus manually. 2. So far only silver. 3. Yes. 4. What you pay is what you get!!!CZ is known for their "3d" kinda quality of image besides their fine optics. AF won't work on those adaptor as they are just plain adaptor. You can find lots of alternative to fotodiox at Garage sales,Zaloon,Lelong...... You need Metabones or Techmart AF adaptor.Last I checked YL Camera has a unit of Metabones and cost around 1.5k.

QUOTE(geek8585 @ Dec 4 2012, 11:36 AM) IMO, the new 10-18 is not very compulsory for nex user unless u like to shoot landscape a lot.. and for manufacturer to make a sharp wide angle lens is not easy (maybe it cause this kinda of price tag)... no comment on it when compare with CZ lens... but i would say, SEL24F18CZ is the sharpest e-mount lens i ever had... Wide angle zoom need not just use for landscape. It is useful to exaggerate and dramatized a mid shot angle like those funky skateboarding angles or a situation where you need to include more background into your composition. The other useful bits is it has slightly slower freezing shutterspeed. It can be handy as it sort of became your 1635 zoom in 35mm focal range.

It is better to compare E-mount to M43 as their systems is more alike in terms of size. Offering from Olympus or Panasonic is not exactly cheap either as most fast lens touching 2k and above. When looking at quality lens is not all about fast aperture. Optic quality and characteristic also comes into play. Zeiss gives yours shot the 3d pop and yet not like cut out sharpness. If manual focussing not an issue Voightlander can be as awesome as Zeiss. But Holy Grail of lens are those use in filming and most of their brands are obscure to common folks. Angeniuex,Cooke,Arri,Panavision.... To top it off most great looking movies shot a lot on Panavision and it's not even available for purchase. In my career, only touch a Panavision twice. Then you have medium format. The notables one are Hasselblad and Zeiss. But the elitist may use Schneider with Phase One. To me all these are just tools, if can afford it by all means. At the same time I'm contend with what I can afford for personal use that I can't make a living out of it.
