I already set my Win 7 to "turn off automatic update", the reason is if I turn on automatic update than it will download updates and slow down internet connection. (my internet connection is already very slow).
I use Win 7 to surf forum.lowyat.net only, occationary for one or one and half hour only.
I thought if you visit many different website than there will be danger viruses/malwares come in to infect you PC. forum.lowyat.net is a safe website so there will be no danger of viruses/malwares come in to infect my PC if I surf forum.lowyat.net only. Am I right? Also, I don't copy files into my PC by using thumbdrive so there will be no viruses/malwares coming from thumbdrive.

QUOTE(amitycox @ Nov 7 2012, 09:39 AM) I think u still have to do security updates so that your PC is well protected even you didn't surf the internet so much.. Btw..,i agree with u.., Lowyat.net is safe! Not really. Some people post links to pictures or sites can be malware or virus. Its recommended that you keep your AV updated all the time who knows suddenly you copy something it appears as malware/virus?

yup, sp6068 is correct. For me, AV is more important, then follow by windows updates.

its best to update it if its a fresh install, as some stuff might be outdated. just do it when you have nothing to do. or sacrifice a couple of hours of using the comp

get microsoft security essential then you are almost fine nothing is 100% secure MSE use very little system resource you won't notice that it's there
