Guys, i just bought White MyVi 1.5 SE Manual Multimedia (haven't got the car yet, but agreement is signed)..but now..after a test drive of my friends 1.3 manual...im having second thoughts on the manual transmission.

I found the manual tranny to be van like. noisy. unrefined. the auto felt very smooth and comfortable.

My question is, to all 1.5 manual owners,

i) do you regret getting manual?
ii) is it noisy compared to the auto?
iii) is the gearbox any good?
*
I on manual & over times it will be a diamond from the rough, sparkling & snippy like the roadrunner, pip-pip!

so does it mean  that the manual 1.5se is noisier than the auto 1.5 se? icon_question.gif
*
To me a pure manual lovers, this doesn't matter! What's matter is the affordability bracket we're in here & capability of our 1.5 zippyness with good interior spaciousness!

Manual cars are noisier when cruising due to the fact that they cruise at a higher RPM than auto cars. A typical 4AT can cruise 110km/h at lower than 3k RPM, whereas a manual variant might cruise at more than 3.5k RPM, hence the engine will of course be noisier.

I don't own a Myvi, I just happen to recently start driving one rather frequently.

*
Not true... the best thing in life driving a manual is it is controllable in the 1st place & it's entirely up to the driver to decide as whether to rev it noisier at a higher rpm range before deciding on the gear changes or subdue it as quiet as a sweet purring, miow-miow moment! Driver is in control always & that's the beauty out of it!

I know you can shift at lower rev when driving in traffic or city. I was talking about cruising. When cruising at 100km/h, even at 5th gear, the manual will still cruise at a higher RPM compared to 4AT.

axsatr was asking is it noisy at 100km/h.
*
Well, I should say everything is tolerable, average in rpm range plus noise judging from the category in. Nothing is perfect even the driver him/her-self isn't a perfector too! Moreover, this is a sub rm60k compact 1.5 rides, unless you can find another equivalent 1.5 compact rides with same features at same category, can you, IN MANUAL?

Dude, why are you so defensive?

Manual cruises at a higher RPM than auto, hence the louder engine noise, I'm just stating this simple fact because someone asked. I never said manual is bad, alright?
*
Defensive yea OMG! I thought I was just having fun at it but somewhere in my heart, I've a feeling surely someone/somebody would mention the way I replied back & yes, my instinct was right smile.gif By the way, the statement of 'simple fact' to me can be very subjective though. Therefore, I was & am still enjoying the topic & never thought of wanting to offence anyone. To me, this is an interesting club page for sharing & to be shared! brows.gif

Hi bro, what's up? Yes, great days before but now with this nippy 1.5 manual tranny is almost the same joy i've gained back, in a way lah! I was just sharing some light heartedly facts with our bro here, however they felt uneaziness already! haha...

QUOTE(dares @ Dec 23 2012, 04:12 PM)
Dear Real Driver,

I merely pointed out

a) Manual cruises at higher RPM than auto

b) higher RPM means engine sounds buzzier

Tell me which of this two point is subjective?

You are the one who say that I was wrong, and we should tolerate the imperfections, when I NEVER complained manual cars are bad in anyway. Again, I was merely answering a forumer's question. If you feel that I am wrong, pls direct your answer at him and tell him I am wrong on both counts.
Regards,
Not a REAL DRIVER.
*
huh, who are you referring to as real driver! I never say b4 I was/am a real driver! It was merely hand down to me by my close known buddy, are you one of them too?

Cut short the whole circumstances here, Myvi 1.5 manual is great to be driven & again, NVH is at tolerable acceptance level, no big deal at all! So, throughout my accustomed years with manual rides, all of them were well at acceptance level (subjective right?), so unless you get your a) & b) facts from P2 source directly, then only i will say you are an objective driver? Can I?

By the way, it wasnt good to point here & there, I can read, I understand your English sentences construction here! I have & owning a Myvi rides, not temporarily but permanently in fact thumbup.gif Are you?

ABANDON this thread here bcos of someone! Haha what a year end joke that was! Just fyi, I am a permanent residence here, if you don't know... anyway, great to have a bystander dropping by sharing some subjective facts, you are welcome & can be yours too if you one day have decided to purchase, own & drive a Myvi! Cheers biggrin.gif

guys guys chill out! nothing to be shout about myvi manual NVH. i own 1st batch of myvi from 2005(now my lil brother driving it) n i just bought the new LPLB myvi. what i can tell u the new variant has improve ALOT. dont start argue about who is real driver n who is not. myvi is just a hatch car, if u want to start talking about real manual car, u should be having car like porsche. that is a real driver car n only the owner deserve to claim real driver on manual tranny n who is not. HAHA. by the way i own a not so driver car that has a manual tranny with a rear wheel drive and stock engine produces 250hp n i dont simply talk about im a real driver to anyone. let just make this forum more friendly guys.

Lolz senses finally being spread in good spirit & joy especially coming this around season of giving & receiving! Cheers to the world rclxms.gif

I find the audio barely bearable. I just adjusted the settings but the bass is not there. What did you guys change to?

I find reverse parking a little difficult to adjust. Bait cumbersome. Not like kelisa.
*
Well, we've quite a number of owners have added this so-called Active Sub-woofer in rear booth & the effect is overwhelming! rclxms.gif Alternatively, you can also upgrade the front & rear speakers for some added bassy improvement. However, still sub-woofer prevail here brows.gif

Reverse parking difficult! Mind to elaborate more on it as ours rides are already a compact hatchy? tongue.gif

Hmmmm is it something like this which is called as battery terminal protector, http://image.made-in-china.com/2f0j00nBDEW...-side-Yc311.jpg ? However, this shouldn't has any negative effect unless it's so coincidence that youir battery life was just happen dying off at the same time! When you last change battery?

heard from our customer, there was an operasi besar to swipe out non active members laugh.gif

Yes Sir, you are right! rclxms.gif We have pre-posted this about a month plus long campaign in FB already biggrin.gif . All 'members whom are active or hyper-active or 'nyawa-nyawa ikan' are suppose to Like or to at least giving a breath of freshness topic posting instead of just joining & straight away 'Lost In FB Space' or 'MIA' unsure.gif

However, all these flushed out members can 're-join' the club back by requesting joining again rclxm9.gif , which this time the club Admin would ensure they are in for real & truly participate in the club posting & activities held here & there. We basically want active members to exchange views, discussion of pro&con, sharing ideas, making the best out of it, expressing out, teaching, coaching, partying, celebrating, voicing etc. We least on passive joiners which just simply join but neither owning a same rides not on same direction, nor fun out of it, nor making up the number, nor no interests, nor my friends ask me to join so I join lah! etc.

Hope the above are well clear now! We welcome all to join the club plus to participate actively within the group for healthy & sustainable points in making our Myvi even better & to appreciate good finest things in our Myvi rides although it may not be necessary the rare&exotic car on earth yea!
