well, i'm really confused now. i'm currently waiting for my spm results and is wondering about how matriculation works.
you see, i applied for the government matriculation last year... and my counsellor told us that we can go overseas after completing both matriculation and a degree in any malaysian universities but she didn't elaborate much about it.
however, when i consult my friends from other school, they told me that their counsellors said that malaysian government matriculation is only recognised in malaysia. and after the degree, our chances to be accepted in foreign universities are very slim... and that we might only be accepted in indonesia. is this accurate?

marticulation is like speedboat to and island compared using the normal way either using diploma or STPM ticket. matriculation is something like A-level or Pre-U level where you gain faster access to a degree in local Uni compared to STPM where you need to have a good result to enter your preferable course. You need to get certain cgpa in matriculation to entitled to enter it.
as for the recognition of matriculation, I'm not so sure bout it. Maybe feynman could elobrate more. It is better still if you insist wanted to go foreign Uni, an A-Level or which ever is required is much better because they have set a standard requirement in this exam.
matriculation, highly unlikely that you can use it to enter a foreign university. The reason is because of the method of assessment. Unlike A-levels, STPM, Australian and canadian grade 12, matriculation isn't really moderated by a examining body, too many things related to matriculation is in the dark, things like who sets the standards? Who marks the papers? Are there any external observers to ensure that standards are maintained? Matriculation is simply not transparent, if something is not transparent, there sure are some hanky-panky things going on. However, I believe that it can be used as a proof of secondary education for American Universities. Don't take my word for it, call up the university concerned to find out whether they are aware of something called malaysian matriculation and if they do, ask them whether they accept it or not.as for the recognition of matriculation, I'm not so sure bout it. Our degrees are recognised, you can use them to pursue masters or doctoral studies at foreign universities.
Matriculation, A-levels, STPM are all pre-u courses.
