Argh... Apple does it again! They launched a new toy called the IPod Hi-Fi. Looks simple and yet so stylish. Anyone with any idea how much will it cost and roughly when will it arrive on our shores?

anyway, i think better to get a dock n a set of amps n speakers... sound nicerrrr....

biase la... i think this really looks like an ordinary but the price is a real .... bad thing

i think it'll be cheaper than the bose speakers
from the looks of it,this is better looking and might be better

WOW! USD349 ain't cheap. It's gonna costs at least RM1300 here. At that price, I can buy a reasonably good hifi. Just curious though. Apple mentioned that the IPod Hi-Fi can be carried around powered by batteries. However, how is the IPod gonna hold itself to place. Won't it like drop out?

I hope it is as good or exceeds the quality of the BOSE SoundDock because it is $50 more expensive than the BOSE. Its already selling at the Apple online shop.

Will prefer to actually look at it first before deciding. Need to know the build and sound quality.

Lol, its a center speaker, end of story. Buy it if you want to know what mono sounds like.

to blast ppl away..... you'll need something more sinister than those FOH speakers....

I know it won't blast people away, but at least Apple finally created something for people to listen to their IPod music using a speaker dock system instead of having to rely on other brands like Bose, Klipsh, etc... Besides, not many hifi system out there provide support for IPod for the time being.

I bet you have not listened to the BOSE SoundDock right? You will be amazed by what a speaker with that kind of similar speaker setup can do. The Hi-Fi is a direct competitor to the SoundDock, please give it a listen before you even try to judge.

Seriously i would prefer third party solutions rather than apple products... lol... People just pay too much for the look... Sigh, in fact most of these people can't really differentiate between price and quality... most people thought that nice looking and expensive must come with good quality... but with apple products... it is something that is seriously lacking...

i heard alot of good and even fantastic review on that BOSE speaker thingy. dunno about this apple speaker though.

i do agree with magicdust that people tend to buy apple because it's apple... i nearly bought the apple in-ear earphones because... it's a bloody apple. then after reading reviews on it... i bought the ety instead.

and for this speaker set. i will put my money on the BOSE!

Don't be so quick to judge. Alot of you guys here are judging this Hi-Fi before it even reach Malaysia and you guys have not even tested it! Jumping the gun too fast guys......all I have to say is give it a listen first - then make your decision!

Its like one of those PS3 vs XBOX360 thread! Give opinions, not judgements - especially when you have not even tried or tested the product!

but i didnt give any judgements on this hi-fi set.

We can only judge its look for now. As for performance, just like what kcnyc said, let's wait for it to reach our shores.

I go check it out in the NYC Apple store tomorrow, if I can get out of my driveway. Snow....yuck!

I'm suprised that it actually charges the IPod even on batteries. Why would I sacrifice battery power to bring power to the IPod. A bit the weird right?

Haven't yet wei, bloody cold outside. Howling wind and freezing temps. Kinda dangerous outside. Moreover the melting snow turned back into sheets of ice. Imagine skating with your sneakers on the sidewalk..........

Believe me it is crazy outside. In my 27 years of my life, I have never heard the news tell me that it is dangerous outside because of the cold and ice. So I tend to listen when they say it.

batteries on ur ipod hi-fi.. i dun see any high here...

If u wanna carry ipod hifi outside like rapsters in malaysia, people might laugh, see u like orang gila or like action type people, (sombong)

even though, u wear ur ipod's earpiece, people also will see la...cos theier tech is very low..they dunno nthg, so they will look loke orang cemperak..(like dunno anything bout this stuff)

I wish the ipod accessories shop here would let us test drive the units before purchase.. Coz at the prices we're paying, the least they can do is give us a test drive.. Now got the Soundock, Klipsch's latest, Altec's IM series, JBL's.. Sad that most shops aren't really friendly towards its customers.. I'm contemplating to sell my IM7's to go for a better setup.. If only I can do a side by side comparison between the Hi-Fi and Soundock, easier coz reviews are a good guideline.. but end of the day, its your ears that would be the deciding factor where your buck goes..

IT fair at SG few days back ago... My bro testing wif his Ipod Mini. the sound output from this Ipod hifi is incredible Nice. You will appreaciate the Bass it got.

This is not an empty look Hi-fi. The hi-fi is kinda heavy..hee..

Somehow, Sound output thru powerbook is very dissapointed.

I'm wondering if i connect it to the CD player, how does it sound like? i read through few reviews, generously Ipod HiFi considered as a good speaker for ipod. To play MP3, i guess this is the perfect partner for Ipod already. And again, what if Ipod HiFi connects to Cd player?

Apparently the sound output from Powerbook is crappy...

A good thing to haf especially COmputer slow down while working. Turn off mp3 player. And using speaker like this to enjoy music while working...
