Are Orient star built quality and movements superior to the normal Orients?

Hey guys,

Any feedback on Orient's 40N51 movement?
Looking to purchase the classic orient star, just wanted to see if you guys have any experience with this movement.

Got my local watch shop to preorder one for me.
But i'm not sure whether it's the intl model or the JDM.
Are there any difference in price for JDM?

Any idea of the retail price of the intl version of the classic orient?

The shop i went to had no stock, so i had to get him to order for me.
I also noticed that the classic and the open heart seems to be priced the same here although the Japan website seems to show a 8-10k yen difference.
Not sure whether they're selling the classic expensive or the open heart cheaper.

I would not know whether it's fake or not, but there seems to be positive comments earlier about their reliability.
The one you see in the ebay link are Orient watches.

The one Everdying and I were talking about is Orient Star.
That's the reason of the price difference.

Came with bracelet. I changed it to a normal Orient strap.

Yup, i wanted the blue hands but it only came with the bracelet.

In Penang, go browse around at komtar's watch shops. Along Penang road as well. You'll need to ask them as most will not have them on display.
Should be able to find plain looking straps easily. But if you're looking for those with specific brands, it'll be harder. Maybe they can order. Am not sure.
Be prepared to sweat coz the weather in Penang now is terrible.

Not really sure, but the cheaper ones prolly 40+ i guess.
For me, i would prefer rubber straps for sports.
Or if you're afraid leather will stink, i believe they have those water resistant PU straps. Looks like leather . I believe it's cheaper.

Budget and good quality watch. What you pay is what you get la.
Mostly quartz. Some solar, not auto.
In my opinion, worth buying compared to other fashion brands that are priced almost the same or slightly higher.
However, i would not spend anything more than 600 on one

I have no idea what respect you're referring to but let me ask you this question, which brand makes the most famous, reliable, value for money and toughest digital watch? or can you name me one that is better then them in those areas.

It depends on your personal opinion bro, and what is important to you. the looks, the brand, the functions, the movement.
If 300+ is your budget, Seiko and Orient has some in that bracket as well.

Your small collection is more expensive than my car.

When i mentioned fashion watches, we're talking abt those that sniperontheroof stated. Famous clothing brands that jump onto the watch bandwagons.
Esprit, Levis, Giordano, CK, Guess, PUMA, Nike etc.

Casio has been producing watches for a long time, although the digital ones are more famous (yes, G-Shock).
I myself started with a Casio Edifice as well. Bought it with my 1st salary, runs till now (6yrs), one battery change so far.
With a budget of 200 and below there's actually not much choice for you. Even fashion watches are priced higher.
My suggestion to you is save abit, raise your budget to 300+ and you'll have alot of choices to choose from. Auto, Quartz, Chrono.
Seiko has it's own thread here . Alot of people talking bout them. So maybe you'll feel more secure with this brand.
If looks is what you're looking for, browse around local watch shops. Don't be afraid of the price. Retail price is always higher, sure got discount one. LOL

Classic/dress style watches for your budget, i believe Orient will have alot of choices for you to select from.
Seiko will have more sporty/diver looking ones. Their classic watches are usually above 850.
