I have a few experience buy watches online, in fact I bought 2 mm homages and a laco from Germany online. Each time the parcel arrived without any issue. There are no taxes on watches but if your worried about it being stolen pay a little more to have it insured. Better be safe than sorry

thanks for your fast response. rclxms.gif

care to share with me the links of those sellers you like?

for Omega 007, maybe it's good to take a look at Orient Mako first, esp the blue mako... this only cost ~rm 450.

Can get as a gift! tongue.gif

I have seen Mako in Sg. Wang, price is rm650 but at 30% off become 455. The Mines also has a shop selling orient.

yeah u r right, it'd be a good gift.

Almost similar but the Omega Seamaster more leng jai to me.

hehe, of course, at that price. Omega is still a very reputable brand, but orient and seiko (and citizen too) are just simply unbelievable! i've just bought a black Mako, and within the first 24 hour, the accuracy is +/- 0 second, if this is not amazing i don't know what else is.

also, mako is so versatile:

Wheres the best place to get one of those babies? And at what price range?
*
pls refer back to pages 5 to 7, we did talk about this. Sg. Wang and The Mines, at least these 2 places got. I'm sure there are more shops in KL and Penang etc. that sell orient. price range ~rm455 for malaysia, online would be cheaper but by not much for this low cost babe.

did nothing to it, straight out of the box.
the cheaper orient / seiko movements have pretty conservative accuracy specs which is actually listed at -25s to +15s / day, tho most ppl will find they are easily more accurate than that.
*
i'm a litle unfortunate, my seiko 5 (7s26) is never accurate, more like +20 sec / day! i'm giving up on it and now orient mako is my main.

well, if $$$ is not a problem for you, take any swiss big names like omega seamaster or rolex sub, it won't be wrong, they are legends, some of them can even dive to 600m! but for everyday folks like us, orient mako is THE thing, and how often would you dive to below 200M? biggrin.gif

i think for ppl who have no experience with diver watches, Mako is a very good starting point-afterall, it's only about rm380-480. Mako has also another advantage - its design can make you wear it for diving, and also smart enough as a dress watch. i have read from the net that many overseas (i.e. mat salleh) ppl who have worn rolexes and omegas switch and make orients (and seikos) to be their everyday watch, due to their excellent value, smartness, and accuracy (within +/- 10 seconds per day, something even many swiss can't achieve). i also own 2 Oris. for these past 2 days, mako's accuracy is clearly higher than them. rclxms.gif

relax, mate, why resort to such? in which line did i belittle the big names? i even praised them as legends, which they really are... biggrin.gif

in this context, i think what i was trying to convey is this:

if you have all the resources in abundance, then of course you can get anything you like. the real challenge is when you have very limited, and yet you can get things that are almost(!) as useful, now it is an achievement. in the case of the Mako, I'm still amazed by the poeple in Orient that they can produce a product at that accuracy and beauty, yet at less than 5% of the cost of the big boys, now that's a terrific achievement - at least to me that is. biggrin.gif

And I do agree with Jason on his last point. My watches (from the Swatch to the Rollie) are all lovingly worn (and dinged). While I don't advocate purposely banging your watch against the wall, I also feel that there's a story (your story) behind every ding.
Someday, when my watches are passed on to the next in line, I hope to be able to re-tell the stories of each scratch from days gone by smile.gif

That crack on the Speedy was from your mother, when she found out that I lost the winning lottery ticket, and proceeded to take the closest tossable item and threw it at my general direction.

now this is something new to me, i didn't really think along that line-good points.

nm my mistake, its actually rm199 for the seiko 5's there.
and uhh got no divers tongue.gif
just all the classic looking ones like this.

hmm, this seiko 5 looked quite nice for the price, and quite modern not apek style at all. 199 is quite cheap la, i thought a couple of years ago they have increased all seiko 5's prices to over rm270? where is the shop? do they sell other brands also at lower prices?

rm99 casios.
got cheaper ones that i never heard of before.
just stick with the seiko 5, dependable 7s26 movement for rm199.
*
i'm not interested in quartz, only automatic watches. i own one seiko 5 , a bit similar to the model above but the accuracy is bad even after regulated by a watch shop. gave up on it now, and bought Oreint Mako (black) at about RM400 rclxms.gif - way above my expectation: in 7 days it is only -10 seconds shakehead.gif

attached some photos of mine, sorry for poor image quality (using handphone camera).
