Picking a Seiko over a Rolex...
Gotta have rocks in their heads...

relax, mate, why resort to such? in which line did i belittle the big names? i even praised them as legends, which they really are...
in this context, i think what i was trying to convey is this:
if you have all the resources in abundance, then of course you can get anything you like. the real challenge is when you have very limited, and yet you can get things that are almost(!) as useful, now it is an achievement. in the case of the Mako, I'm still amazed by the poeple in Orient that they can produce a product at that accuracy and beauty, yet at less than 5% of the cost of the big boys, now that's a terrific achievement - at least to me that is.

And I do agree with Jason on his last point. My watches (from the Swatch to the Rollie) are all lovingly worn (and dinged). While I don't advocate purposely banging your watch against the wall, I also feel that there's a story (
your story) behind every ding.
Someday, when my watches are passed on to the next in line, I hope to be able to re-tell the stories of each scratch from days gone by
That crack on the Speedy was from your mother, when she found out that I lost the winning lottery ticket, and proceeded to take the closest tossable item and threw it at my general direction.now this is something new to me, i didn't really think along that line-good points.
