On the subject of divers.. I got this annoying itch that may require scratching sooner or later.

What I really really wanted is a 1960's Seamaster 300 but figured that it won't be practical .. even the "NOS" ones.

Alternatively... a CWC Royal Navy diver seems to fit the bill (tritium (really?) and fixed lug bars ) but didn't like the "quartz" marking on the dial and the fact that can only get it new via Silverman in London.

Then came across this Kronos sterile "homage" (also read up about it at the above blog). I like the look and its cheap at ~RM300. What do you guys think?

New DDSD? No No   

Dunno, something not quite right about the 2254's bezel. Why oh why Omega couldn't stick to one design language and evolve from there.
Rolex lume not as power as Omega or Seiko for that matter.

yes I was totally convinced that my watch arrived more than a month ago... but unfortunately I got f***ed in the ass by a seller who deceived me by showing me a photo of a watch that was not mine!

and after voicing discontent he agreed to return my deposit. it was then that I knew I had to move on and find another way... hence I refused to mention anything more in this regard in these forums with a risk of stabbing myself again..

way too much drama for my expected shopping experience but I'm just glad it worked out better for me... even if it did cost me a little bit more in the end...

In the grand scheme of things... manufacture movement and what not... its priced not THAT high.

No second hand value though.. I see Tangente's in the auction sites here in Taiwan for around < RM3K

classic non COSC Sub

guys, im having a budget of RM800, trying to look for cerruti 1881, ingersoll & orient.. been to sunway pyramid.. all the prices of the watch that i like mostly 1100 =.= duno got discount anot.. anyone knows where to find cerruti 1881, ingersoll and orient watch??

I wouldn't say that. I absolutely love my hollow bracelet for the weight and comfort factor. Not a fan of the chunky bracelets ala SubC/PO-C.
Plus, despite the old stamped clasp looking like something straight out from a Swatch, I think there's a hint of classic-ness to it, like the Subs from days gone by.

Just personal preference really. The only thing I like about the new Sub is the blue lume

But on the flipside, is there really such a thing as a bad Sub? I liken them to the Porsche 911s.
Every generation looks more or less the same (evolution, not revolution), but with new tech that makes the new one better. Yet people harp on and on about how the newer generation lacks feel and passion and the outgoing model is the ultimate classic

I have tried the entire of the latest range of Rolex Watches (except for the sky dweller and DJ which i don't care about) and i personally found the proportions DSDD too large for me...and this is coming from a Panerai owner... the escape valve and overtly protruding flat sapphire also just looks rather daft to me.. yes i know these are fundamental for the DSSD to reach teh great depths it is capable of, but the submariners are still my preferred of the Rolex diving range. Admittedly these preferences are mostly due to cosmetic reasons...I prefer the no dates because i prefer non cyclops magnifiers (yes i know the cyclops of the date-sub can be removed easily but i would never dare do that to any factory timepiece). My reasoning for choosing a vintage subbie is because i feel that the piece has evolved very little over the course of half a decade, hence it still looks relevant today. I personally love the challenge of looking for a full set, the tuna can bracelet that will still actually snap in place, decent condition hour and minute hands, etc... Vintage is new territory for me hence its i find it interesting, plus it would make a better story to tell my boys over our weekend piss ups

Agreed with you, prefer the AP at 6 o'clock and matching date wheel. Not to mention the new clasp as well.
But I do like the 39mm size on 15300 more.

Just curious, what do you guys/girls consider in priority when buying a watch?

The brand?
The looks?
In-house movement?

With a budget of around RM 2k, should i go for Seiko Premier or other brand ?

isit for single watch or its a box?
im looking for box/storage to store 5-7 watches
