Generally my criteria for choosing a watch goes in this order:
Aesthetics, movement, brand, price, any heritage/history behind would be a bonus. Some people may consider resale value but not me.

Of course, once in a while emotion trumps all the above biggrin.gif

Guys, I'm been going to many watch shops to look for my leather strap replacement but I couldn't find. Cause mine the end of the strap is "curve" and a lot of the shops I asked do not have it. Any idea where I can look for the curve leather strap??

Thanks

Hirsch Leonardo straps with curved ends if you can find them in shops. Alternatively there are many online stores selling these e.g. Fredawatchstraps or Watchobsession.

TBH I have not seen Leonardos in the flesh, not sure whether they are common in Malaysia. Where I am the official Hirsch distributor does not even supply this line currently.

where are u btw?
i dont think i've ever seen any curved end straps from anyone here.
most stores here seem to assume that curved end straps have very limited market as they think it can only fit certain watches.

China, and you'd think for a market like this they would carry the full range.

^What's wrong with China made winders? Care to share what you mean by 'quality type'?

Not everyone can afford Scatola del Tempo and Wolf Designs winders, especially for the average guy with a couple of Seiko's in their collection.

Yup unless my watches had moonphase, annual/perpetual calendar I can't be bothered to put them on the winder smile.gif

Thought I'd share this. A friend purchased a Shanghai brand hand-winding watch recently. What's interesting is the dial which is printed with Chinese 'shi chen' 时辰, used to tell time during the time of dynasties. All for less than RM90.

taobao.com is always a good source for Chinese watches. Also try good-stuffs.com though the prices there may be slightly higher.

IIANM, the ancient Chinese time system divides the the day into 12 zones. (equivalent to 2 hours)
How does one read time on that watch? I'm too tired to figure that out.  sweat.gif

Time is read like any other watch. The markers are positioned in the way that correlates to the 12 hour system; outer ring represents pm, inner ring am.

There's a review with discussion on the Chinese time system on WUS.

Guys, can recommend me a rm10 to rm200 watch for sports?

The lower end of your price range is probably a bit unrealistic. Anyway your best option is G-Shock. Get a classic DW5600 for a little over 200.

There are a few online sellers popular on LYN, prices are probably more competitive than retail outlets.

I think 18mm would fit the C5, definitely not 24mm. Just measure the lug width to be sure.

Mido offers a few ladies models, as well as Hamilton. Hamilton open heart model is a nice watch.

Christopher Ward is also having a sale with a few models going for 50% off or more (< 1k).

currently caught between Ck and Fossils watches, which brand is better in terms of quality and durability?

Pretty much the same in terms of movement. Personally I'd consider the Japanese brands as well i.e. Seiko, Citizen, Casio, Orient.

Which Speedmaster did you get? I had the impression the 3570 was widely available. My Speedy ticks a bit loud too, guess it's normal.

Yeah never seen that one before. But with the co-axial feature, shouldn't be a bad choice.

Too heavy for Bond? I'm trying to understand what an additional 100g or so on the wrist would make a difference to a strapping fellow like Daniel Craig biggrin.gif

Finally added a Chinese watch to my humble collection - a Sea-gull column wheel chronograph. Overall quality is top notch for the price I paid, and the movement is just amazing seen through the display caseback.
