QUOTE(maryjane9996 @ Mar 21 2013, 03:14 AM) Like graham they have very diff design to others, from far also people would know.but I can't wear big watch,my wrist consider small.ulysse have few that I like, but those only entry level for my budget What u mean entry level for your budget with UN? Too cheap watch?Which model have u looked at so we get an idea what u looking for. Which brand is better? From your post u care about marketing! Graham watches are often big at 46mm, by big is how big is a no go? Graham watches movement are supplied by La-Joux Perret, usually highly modified eta. I think graham has a inhouse movement. UN also base a lot of movement on eta, add module or mod. If I am dropping 30k, I want inhouse. Something from GO or JLC would be nice. Or a Dornblueth & Sohn ( wait is like 9mths if not in stock, they make like 120 watch a yr). What about a neat MontBlanc Nicolas Rieussec, those rare louis Moinet or zenith captain moonphase at 40mm. QUOTE(ck77 @ Mar 24 2013, 04:55 PM) Why not worth? Xmas time they were on sale for like 50%. Cheapest starts around usd$1k.Interesting facts on Magrette http://forums.watchuseek.com/f2/magrette-w...es-70957-5.html QUOTE It is a New Zealand watch, by conception to product. The manufacturing is almost all outside of NZ. I believe the cases are Chinese made, by Unidesign, Alpha also use the exact same case. The dials are made in Germany. The leather straps are made in Canada. The assembly and refining touches are NZ This post has been edited by patryn33: Mar 24 2013, 11:07 PM |

QUOTE(auhckw @ Mar 25 2013, 10:05 PM) I'm a noob in watch. I don't own any watch for work/casual. Plan to get 1 with the budget under RM2.5k (or max RM3k) non leather type. Just steel or rubber?I prefer to get 1 that can last cause I doubt I will buy more than 1 watch in the near future. Watch is primary for my work (formal attire) and secondary casual attire. No mechanical? Not looking for Swiss? If not U can get a LM7 on ceramic with titanium bracelet. No fancy dial but its Swiss. http://www.ocean7watchco.com/store/ocean7-...ic-lm-4-v2.html A CW GMT watch - great value. http://www.christopherward.co.uk/men/view-...0-gmt-skws.html Or a stowa http://www.stowa.de/lshop,showdetail,13642...ub--marine,.htm A chrono steel?? Busy dial u like right? http://www.steinhartwatches.de/en/Nav-B-Ch...-steel,165.html With quartz 2.5k lots of option with citizen or seiko. Orient made by seiko group, no ti http://orientwatchusa.com/mens/orient-star/dj00002w A perpetual calendar chrono?? http://www.watchesonnet.com/bl5440-58e.htm...CFVSVMgodAhAArw Citizen Model AT4010-50E - perpetual calendar chrono titanium This post has been edited by patryn33: Mar 26 2013, 07:11 AM |

QUOTE(auhckw @ Mar 28 2013, 01:02 AM) After going through some reading, at least now I understand what is quartz, auto, kinetic and mechanical. What is swiss. U did mention u may not be getting a watch for a long time after this.Mechanical sounds interesting, what is a good entry model that is good? Mind to point me to some directions... I have to agree, if u are rough with watches and your current watch is filled with battle scars. a good mech to start with us get those on eta 2893, if I recall right 289x series only come on elabore grade. Eta 2824 is avail in standard, a grade lower. I did recommend one on 2893, iirc all of them are sapphire crystal. One is on ceramic very scratch resistance. Service on mech cost more as its not a simple 50-100 battery change. On the flip side if they are ever water damage, a simple service will fix them up. Unlike quartz u need to get a new movement or watch. Sporty diver can try louis erard http://www.thewatchery.com/results.asp?ndd=1 This post has been edited by patryn33: Mar 28 2013, 06:46 AM |

don't know what that pleases your eye. here is something suggestion. or U can post a pic to help.
500-800? try Mondaine retro - 40mm steel sapphire crystal, swiss ronda quartz http://www.watchismo.com/mondaine-retro-da...6SBM-watch.aspx Orient mostly mechanical iirc Hamilton H74511133 - 40mm, 200m WR, ETA quartz, sapphire crystal http://www.ashford.com/watches/hamilton/kh...g_cat6032&so=23 alittle over budget. http://www.christopherward.co.uk/men/view-...-q-sws-mk2.html or those FC junior quartz http://www.ebay.com/itm/Frederique-Constan...=item2c64618a8d This post has been edited by patryn33: Mar 29 2013, 06:56 AM |

QUOTE(tanjinjack @ Mar 29 2013, 07:42 AM) Well, that is really subjective but I would prefer something minimalistic more over complex one. The Mondaine is indeed very nice, at least on pictures. Any idea where can I find one in KL region? Also want to know if it is serviceable here or not. Quartz watch, if u are not going swimming or diving, any donkey can service it by that I mean battery change. quartz nothing to service really other than a battery change and gasket change if u dive.OCD with scratch get rubber all over, g shock? Or maybe just don't buy. Steel bang around will get some scratch cannot help. Pocket also can get scratch up esp if u put keys and watch in same pocket This post has been edited by patryn33: Mar 29 2013, 09:13 AM |

QUOTE(tanjinjack @ Mar 29 2013, 12:01 PM) I think so far I am okay with scratches on the bracelets, if it's not reflective one it's still okay and it's still replaceable. My OCD is not that serious (yet?), LOL! I have my way to battle with the OCD evil within me. How to damage dial service? The crystal not protecting the dail?My concern is actually on the dial surface, what I see daily (same thing, also cannot stand scratches on phone screen but phone body still okay with it). BTW, my current watch is a leather and I am still okay with it, didn't really wash too often but I do wipe it occasionally. So I think I could still take a leather strap but I do love the coherence of using stainless steel throughout the watch. In the end, it's still about the subjective thing about how much I like the watch. So anymore suggestion although the Mondaine looks pretty nice - but really must see it in real-life first, anywhere can find that in Malaysia? No AD in malaysia - u know that with a simple search on their website, closest is sg or see if guys on lelong ot lyn is willing to show u in person Bodying does carry them http://www.bodying.my/mondaine.html |

QUOTE(tanjinjack @ Mar 30 2013, 02:06 AM) So you are saying that I could calibrate it a few times until it gets the time right for mechanical watch? U have to get ppl to open up and do the regulation. Each time some $$, no one is doing free if its within spec. If u are true OCD not nothing better to do then go with quartz. As mech can be off 1-15 secs every 24hrs. Putting certain sides up may cause it to run faster. As a student I also have time on my hands to be OCD making sure all the time is sync up. With family and kids I have better things to do then be OCD with time. Even b4 I married my busy work schedule keeps me away from such OCD. Better things to do in life. I am not finding certina in your budget on bodying, cheapest start around 1.2k With tissot u getting eta quartz, mondaine a ronda quartz. Certina uses TC quartz in its DS masters http://www.watchtalkforums.info/forums/gen...forum/27693.htm This post has been edited by patryn33: Mar 30 2013, 05:08 AM |

QUOTE(tanjinjack @ Mar 30 2013, 01:48 PM) Finally found the two I saw that day. Stay away from hardlex so that u dont have to constantly worry scratch protect. The Tissot: http://www.paneraimalaysia.com/index.php/t...4101103700.html The Seiko: http://www.bodying.my/seiko-watches-ssb001...83#.UVZyoFeuZFc This seems to offer a lot of feature within reasonable price, but I am afraid that hardlex will still be scratched. http://www.mywatchgallery.com.my/seiko-slt...tches-2409.html http://forums.watchuseek.com/f2/hardlex-cr...ant-257278.html Good luck hunting, setting higher standards wanting day and date.
