Usually you have to trust the manufacturer, but then, if you know the AWG rating and length, you can make a calculated guess as to the theoretical max rating.

As to the samsung cable.....wtf why they go and copy the fruit co's lousy design......how many fruit users have you seen with the cable crapped up at the connector joint???

The nokia designs are really good and sturdy. AND, the Galaxy S2's cable was very similar to the nokia designs. What kind $@#$## brained marketeer in Samsung thought it a good idea to copy fruit down to the last detail, including the crappiness of the cable.

Firstly coz there's a dust plug at the usb socket, and I think the case is 1.5mm or so thick, so if the dock engineering tolerance is made only to fit ngam ngam the shape of the Note2, then definitely cannot ler.

Go Lowyat, buy 2 galaxy S2 cables...keep one in pocket or bag, one at home. Keep the white one back in its box.
As mentioned in my earlier post, the samsung cables after S2 suck ass, since it copies crapple's design. If you are an ex fruit user, I'm quite sure you know when your cable will break at the joint.

Absolutely agree. It's not "insulation", but the stress relief sleeve.

I can actually charge my Note2 via the notebook USB port if I'm lazy to walk to where my charger is. Once in a while is fine.

In a pinch can use laaa...the % does go up but slowly. I don't use it for full charging, just when I want to top up juice.

Xabrius is right. You have something running in the background that sucks up as much juice as your PC can put in. Either kill all background apps and keep it dead, or plug to something with higher amperage.
I find it sometimes happens to my devices when plugged to my 2A car charger and using GPS and music player with max screen brightness.

Uh..I don't use my headset much, but if that is the case, then it's slavish copying + greed....shaving off a few microns on the cable thickness.....to the accountant, if 0.5mm cable is 3sen cheaper than 0.6mm, then 3m units x 3sen = 90k

PC USB ports usually pump out up to 700mA, although spec specifies 500mA. 700mA is about equal to S2 charger. This means that on idle, your note is sucking at least that much juice, so in=out.
Install Quick System Info pro and Better Battery Stats to see what's running.

Or shutdown, then restart your phone fresh and see if same behaviour happens. If it doesn't, this means some background process is sucking your juice previously.
