What to do when you used antenna and having slowed speed but a better signal?

Possible issue :
1)You are connected to a slower tower
2)Your modem is not working properly with external antenna
3)You didn't configure your modem properly

Solution for issue 1 :
Requirement :
1) MDMA (/WIKI/ thread)
2) IDM or any download tool

How to verify the issue :
1) Please launch MDMA and connect to the internet with MDMA without using the antenna
2) Jot down the CELL ID
3) Download a large file eg : http://ipv4.download.thinkbroadband.com/1GB.zip
4) Notice the speed on IDM
5) Connect the antenna
6) Check for the CELL ID and what is the signal now
7) If you get better signal but different CELL ID you CONFIRMED to be facing issue 1

You are connected to a different and slower CELL (Aimed the wrong tower)

Solution for this issue :
1) Signal hunting begins.
2) Keep your downloading there and MDMA running.
3) Slowly turning the position of the antenna a bit and a bit until you get back the CELL ID before you connected the antenna.
4) Be patience, don't turn too much, Maxis tower are everywhere in certain location.
5) Once you get back the old CELL ID or get different CELL ID but faster speed stop turning the antenna.
6) Keep the antenna there and enjoy your new speed

Speedtest.net is inaccurate in most case and many of the results are cached

If you get slower speed on speedtest.net please use IDM

thanks man, i never trust speedtest.... heheheh.... thanks you for the workaround... will try this tomorrow.... but yeah its stable... pages loads faster than before.... must get back my 3mbps speed via IDM.....

The Sierra is really fast by itself without the panel antenna despite with less signal received.
Try to connect the Sierra to your TPLINK - and test the speed with maxis/umobile/yes 4g/streamyx - you will smile ear to ear

ya lor, i think i am the only person that is having this issue... with out the panel speed turun and signal strenght go up....
i use my SOya box antenna signal strenght go down but speed go up.... haiyaaaaa why like this 1...

put back my soya box antenna

my case. signal up speed down...without panel speed up signal down abit..

i am sure after antenna your CELL ID u connect is different than without Antenna,..

check with MDMA,.


my Handicap E372 only get 8~10Mbps in speedtest,

but in IDM, i get 1.9~2.1MB/s

maybe la.... how do i force connect to the cell.... i move slowly the panel also the same(outside).... its not locking.... i hang the panel inside my house(where i usually hang my soya box antenna) it did lock to the cell(MDMA).....

but signal with panel drop la(no longer 100) 80 plus - download speed not fast la(max 900+kbps).....

so i remove everything and use back my soya box antenna.... 3 mbps speed - signal strength 61 % - ....

no speed test was used for this exercise only IDM -

tomorrow will try the other side of the House.... probably its just my apartment shape/design ---- i dun know la..... i really want this to work for me....

May I know what is your signal right now

If properly setup outdoor, a boost of more than 30dBm is attainable.
If properly setup indoor, expect 10dBm to 20dBm boost

hoho long time din plug into PC, last i check was around 7x dbm i think, now in mr3420 plugged

using Antenna required a lot of patience, a lot of experiment,

every area is different on signal,

u have to try every direction ( even sometimes facing sky ), every corner,..

takes me 2 weeks + to find best spot in my house for sure

before using antenna i get speed araound 10-11mbps..

signal strength from 39% increase to 61%. I live at apartment. Located at ground floor.. so many blok block my signal..hehe

yeah, with this panel, signal confirm increase,

it would be even better in super bad weather, u will notice your connection stable and less up down than before,.

as long as direction is correct,.. connection will be superb,

and loading websites with panel = Fibre like connection too
