You guys can try to talk down the price but LG will not care two hoots. You have to understand that google's price is base cheap but only applicable to the countries where they already have the regulatory approvals and certification tests all done. To do this in all other countries is practically impossible and costly, which is why they rely on their suppliers in countries where they are not represented in play store.
So, in order for these suppliers to sell into these countries, they will procure these certs and approvals at their own cost, tweak accesories e.g. Adapters , logistics etc and provide local warranty. Also, most Importantly, there are physical brick and mortar stores and all these costs money.
So, yeah, dream on in trying to get it below $1500. You'll be lucky to be able to get it below $1800. Be realistic.
The cheapest method is buy from google store via vpn, and then thru hopshopgo, pay $300 for sirim cert services (up to 3 units) OR wait till newegg makes it available on their web and buy thru them. I've also asked newegg Malaysia and they confirmed that any gsm device brought into the country requires sirim cert which will cost around $300 including runners fee.

To those people saying that they will not buy the Nexus 4 because of the jacked up price,
Will you buy any other phone now, knowing that those phones are also being sold at jacked up prices?
Let's assume Google Play is selling the Nexus 4 at cost price. The rumored LG price is retail price. From here we agak agak know how much an average flagship phone is jacked up by.
Having that knowledge, will you still buy an S3, or a Note 2, or whatever ~Rm2k flagship device?
You'll be a hypocrite if you say you'll consider other ~Rm2k flagship devices, because those devices are jacked up by about the same amount as well. Just that the cost price was not publicly known.

those argue why price cheap in US and expensive in UK... it's rumoured to be subsidised in US. QUOTE GOOGLE MAY BE HEAVILY SUBSIDIZING THE NEXUS 4 BY MORE THAN $380http://bgr.com/2012/11/05/google-nexus-4-s...llars-per-unit/One of Google’s (GOOG) big competitive advantages in the consumer electronics space is that the company genuinely doesn’t seem to care whether it makes money selling its mobile devices since most of its money comes from search advertising revenue. And now TheNextWeb has done some good detective work that suggests the company may have taken its willingness to subsidize its devices to new heights with its Nexus 4 smartphone. Specifically, TheNextWeb found that LG (066570) is selling the Nexus 4 to retailers in Europe for €599 ($766), or €300 ($384) more than what Google is charging for the device on its Google Play store. 9to5Google says that it wouldn’t be surprised if Google is subsidizing the Nexus 4, saying that the device has a “seemingly impossible $299 price for the 8GB model” that includes “a beautiful 1280×768 IPS Retina-quality display, insanely fast Qualcomm s4 Krait chipset with 2GB of RAM, 8 megapixel cameras and beautiful design.”

it could be similar scenario to N7... where Asus is selling at RRP of rm999 whereas AP dealers can sell lower. APs were supposedly getting their sets from US, which is again, rumoured to be subsidised.

Erm, I don't think Google is subsidizing ANY Nexus devices. Dan Morrill, who works at Google, asked "I admit, I LOLed. What on Earth makes you think Google subsidizes the Nexus devices?" to a post by Linus Torvalds criticizing Engadget's piece on the iPad Mini, which the author replied to the post saying something about Nexus devices being subsidised. https://plus.google.com/1021506932251300029...sts/8KBkzumMEc1Ctrl+F "Dan Morrill" to get to that specific comment.

QUOTE(karwaidotnet @ Nov 6 2012, 03:11 PM) looks to me... but warranty claim is an issue seller mentioned he waive it the shipping cost for the first month and the rest 12 month he asked us to pay RM90... It seems a valid charges for me the only turn off is the duration of waiting for it to came here... huhuhuhuhu... But from others complain that LG service is not good as well... might be same duration...

QUOTE(andrekua2 @ Nov 6 2012, 03:43 PM) Of all of them, you are using Apple as example. Come on... Coz they just dont cut their price, Usually u see other brand will drop after certain period but iPhone only drop price after the new generation comes. now U can buy S3 ori set about RM 1.8k which equal to last year iPhone 4S. Im not comparing Apple as whole, just comparing iPhone. The iPad have a very good price for the specs. This post has been edited by soulseeker6187: Nov 6 2012, 04:32 PM

Probably they expect LG to sell it at the direct conversion of Google Play's price. Either that or, they are just plain cheapskates who can afford to pay 2.2k for S3 when it first came out and not the same amount for the phone which may be better than the S3. Kiasulogic.
