IMO aoshima's S15 is better than fujimi's S15, can't compare with tamiya's quality of course

QUOTE(benedict1213 @ Dec 17 2010, 04:50 PM) hi sifu sifu, master master.. maybe u should ask in this thread for more opinions:i'm new in modeling and i'm interested to get a compressor and air brush kit. but i am not familiar with that.. Please guide me and what compressor and air brush brand should i get? what is moisture trap about? how much would cost for those compressor and air brush set? thanks very much! i do agreed that fujimi quality is only only compared with Tamiya. fujimi got a lot finishing job and hafto sanding it. http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1397850/+520 since i'm using my bro's compressor, i really not familiar with compressor thing moisture trap=basiclly the name already explain it, to trap moisture or water coming out from the compressor, water coming out from your airbrush will mess up the paint, so u need a moisture trap a typical compressor (with tank) around rm400 is a good start, last time i use cheapo airbrush below rm100, but after using tamiya's airbrush i don't wanna use the cheap one anymore |

QUOTE(benedict1213 @ Dec 17 2010, 06:06 PM) thanks sifu entau. which model of tamiya airbrush you using and what happen to the cheap one airbrush? mind to share more in detail? haha I'm using this one:http://www.hlj.com/product/TAM74532 the cheap one still usable but i duwan to use it anymore, it always stuck if not cleaned properly, so i had to waste a lot of time cleaning it before i can even start to paint, can't spray too wide or too fine, really not nice to use, but still can achieve nice work, just very troublesome & waste my time every time i use it, the Tamiya AB can spray very fine & very wide (good for car body) very easy to clean, and finger no cramp when use for a long period. IMO for starter can just use cheap AB first, after you gain your skill then only buy the Tamiya AB, is like buying your first car, buy a proton, langgar also no problem, cheap to fix This post has been edited by Entau: Dec 20 2010, 11:49 AM |

if money is not an issue, then buy Tamiya AB
Tamiya AB + Compressor will easily reach RM1K, better make sure you are serious about it, later you lost interest in modeling you dun blame me for burning 1K in your pocket |

to be honest, i don't know...already said, i never bought a compressor before
the only way to know is do research & ask those that might have bought them advocado is right, can get the set for RM500, if ur budget is rm500 & below then get the cheaper one lor from what i heard, with or without tank also will heat up (of course without tank will heat up even faster), to be safe, after 30min use, rest for 15min before continuing |

yes, but i haven't COD with him yet, so i dunno how the compressor looks like, my bro's compressor is over 20 years old, very different from most of today's model, that's why i can't comment on the purchase

QUOTE(XiuKeong @ Jan 8 2011, 09:58 PM) Finally this thread is alive. I have a porsche model kit with me but should I buy all the paint required in the instruction manual? not necessary to buy all colors, only those that used a lot like semi-gloss black & interior color, all visible colours that used on the body, under chassis no need lah |

QUOTE(XiuKeong @ Jan 12 2011, 02:52 AM) If acrylic then it doesn't last long? I'm planning to paint the interior using acrylic followed by a layer of transparent coat. what u mean by "last long"? And does the interior and engine part have to be sand before painting? just sand away those mold line and nip mark with 800grit sand paper if u r going to hand paint the interior, make sure u add some acrylic thinner and do some practice first |

hard to explain...but it's true, some paint need black as basecoat, because only black can give the 'best' reflection, you can't really see reflection clearly on a white surface..just try it on both black base & white base and you u'll know the different

oh...actually i'm still trying that
so far i manage to achieve chrome effect but with one downside, the chrome effect kinda dark, plus it is achieve by rubbing those black chrome powder into a mirror black finish, in other words, if the surface aint smooth, so does the chrome's reflection, and it can't be topcoat, can't be handle with wet hand, i can't get the same chrome effect on white or silver, the powder turn yellowish, it only works on black or gun metal which is very dark metallic gray, see below ![]() alclad chrome and other chrome paint had the disadvantage of can't be 'touch' regardless of polish, topcoat or what ever, means the FINAL finish is spray finish, as smooth as it is, paint still shrink when dried, so it will texturise a bit, means no perfect reflection although the shine & brightness is correct sorry for being too technical Added on January 18, 2011, 12:01 amlooks like i showed the chrome spoon before This post has been edited by Entau: Jan 18 2011, 12:04 AM |
