Okay, I had CSC problem like you guys, contact names are not displayed in messages as well as caller ID. I tried changing CSC to different codes available (OPS, KOR, TGY..) but none of them work. But I figured out what caused the problem, for me anyways.

You see, I backed up the whole device in Recovery after update to the new version. Changed to new CSC and restore from that backup, and the problem persisted. But a fresh wipe/install works just fine. So here's what I suggest you do if you have CSC problem:

1. Backup your apps and data with Titanium Backup or any equivalent app.
2. Fresh install/wipe your phone with ver 1.4
3. Leave CSC as default of BTU, it should work without changing
4. Restore the backup with Titanium Backup, be sure to select App + Data only, don't restore any system settings
5. Reboot after restore finish and it should work now. Contacts should appear in messages and caller ID.

I can't narrow down what causes the problem, but a clean install definitely helps. I tried many combinations for hours and this is the only I got it to work with the default BTU as well as any CSC I change to, restore from recovery definitely stuffs things up.

Or get from ebay , 100% definitely cheaper . Just make sure is original with NFC and not those imitation. Look at their prices you will know. Anything cheaper than RM 100 is definitely fake and there are plenty such imitation in ebay

You mean it is a sealed Maxis set and it comes rooted ?? Obviously than some Maxis guy has played with it and sealed back the phone. You should make an official complain back to Maxis HQ

By default USB debugging is always set OFF. But your build number clearly shows is a modified rom built. Maxis sets official build is either shown as JR003C.N7100XXALJI or XXALJ3
It is indeed an obvious case of selling you a tampered set
But since you have flashed back to official rom, it is hard to proof your case

Added on October 27, 2012, 5:47 pmYES - Odin in PC is the standard method to reflash back any stock rom. Any rooting and CWM will be removed
If you want to flash roms, it is infact compulsory to use recovery mode to do a nandroid backup. Incase your phone fail to boot you can always boot to recovery mode and restore back your rom as it is at the stage of backup
NEVER NEVER do any flashing without doing a nandroid backup first

I would say first thing you should do is to check the firmware before taking phone home
If Maxis is really selling such pretest units it is cheating its customers
However if you only find out several days later, just try your luck asking for a new set

This is to answer user crazyissac about Wannam lite 1.4
I just tested this rom. If you do not select wipe data, your SMS contacts tel nos will fail to identify and match with your address book contacts
I redo the flash by selecting wipe data and now it matches perfectly
This is basically a CSC change issue

This is not a FC issue. The issue here is the rom identify tel nos as example Country code-nimber-number . If your contacts tel number is key in as complete set eg 60121234567 and the caller/SMS will appears as 60-12-1234567 your message list will just show the number not the contact names
Anyway you can always try.
I test this rom just to verify this point , not that i am interested in it
I am now restoring back to my favourite rom Hypernote 0.3

List down in detail your steps so we can identify what you did wrong or missed out

Step 4 is not necessary
Just copy the created zip file in phone or external card
Boot to recovery select this zip file n just flash it

Just put your card directly in. Phone will detect it. No need all those steps you just stated
Most apps will install into internal memory. Only minority will install directly to external sd.
If you plan to install many games app you can consider swapping your external sd as internal memory
