QUOTE(Ryo @ May 10 2007, 10:07 AM) okay i set the max port to 4096 and tcp and udp timeout to 120. gonna try downloading something. will keep you guys posted oh and how do you see your connection in DD-WRT? as in download and upload speed? wanna setup QoS also. Added on May 10, 2007, 2:16 pmtried downloading using utorrent. still a triangle status (no incoming connections). i have set a static dhcp to the pc and port forward range and port forward. but still no change as if the port forwarding does not work. did i miss something? I hope you didn't mess around with the port forward menu. If you want to setup your QoS, do a stress bandwidth test (aka, use a download accelerator and download a file from a fast server). For upload, you can try BT heh, to find your max speed. Multiply the speed you get by 8 btw, and you'll get your numbers in bits.

QUOTE(Pennywise @ Jun 9 2007, 02:10 AM) What Wireless Security encryption do you guys use? I use WEP for a long time now and I start to think thats no good, so what should I use for my home network? WPA or WPA2? WPA2 also got Radius, shared key and etc type. Please advise. Also what channel do you guys use? My wireless channel is 6. Should I change? You do not need to change your wireless channel. Even if you want to, keep it under 10 (compatibility issues). Try using WPA2 personal mixed, it supports WPA and WPA2. Good for the typical user. If you have itchy fingers, you can try the WPA2 Enterprise (which requires a radius server, again, if you are pretty damn good, you can mod your router to accept SD Cards and set up the radius server on the router itself . Of course, using JFFS2 would work as well, but you will need >4MB flash).

QUOTE(azmihamzah @ Jun 9 2007, 11:27 PM) have u managed to mod your router to enable this function? Well, i got it half-way until i finally fed-up... Which feature, JFFS2, or SD mod? I enabled neither(nor mod my router, though putting a fan in looks nice..really nice), since I do not really have a need for an ftp server or something. I can give you some websites for modding, if you want. This post has been edited by blindbox: Jun 11 2007, 10:13 AM

QUOTE(gsan @ Oct 11 2007, 10:32 AM) finally no frequent disconnected problem. anyone can tell me what is going to happen actually? I'm using linksys wag200g all-in-1 adsl modem before getting the wrt54g v2.2 and I always faced the disconnected problem frequently, at least 1 time per day if lucky but normally more than that, sometime even 2 or 3 times within 5 minute. at first, I think is tm problem and I called to the CS centre but they cant helped me much...asked me to do those silly checking. after getting the wrt54g router and flashed to dd-wrt, I experienced no disconnected problem. btw, I got the router on tuesday evening. [attachmentid=309205] I guess it is your modem's settings then. Try the keep alive function instead of the connect on idle function perhaps (on your WAG)? Now that it is the router that is doing the dialing, I guess it is fine. Added on October 11, 2007, 1:54 pmQUOTE(sotong168 @ Sep 27 2007, 08:59 PM) i think is 200MHz, after flashed to DD-WRT v23 SP2 (09/15/06) mini - build 3932, it becomes 216MHz but i downclock it to 200MHz http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WRT54GTry not to assume facts. QUOTE(prasys @ Oct 11 2007, 08:51 PM) I've just found out that without(DD-WRT rc24) , my internet speed is pretty fast..But then v24 rc 3 and rc 4 really slows down. We need to wait for their stable version..ack..It hogs up whenever you torrent Really? I'll take that into consideration. I have not experienced it myself though, maybe it is because I am currently using beta RC 4 This post has been edited by blindbox: Oct 11 2007, 11:01 PM

QUOTE(gsan @ Oct 12 2007, 08:40 AM) do you mean that after updating o RC4, your router perform that before? Added on October 12, 2007, 8:52 amwhere to put these command? You don't have to worry about it. Those commands pretty much tells you to set your max connections to 4096, TCP timeout to 120 secs and UDP timeout to 120 secs, which is in your admin settings (or wherever it is). Well, if you are still interested to putting those commands in, try telnetting or ssling into the router. If you do not know how to do this, there is a console at administration>commands. That should be easier than telnetting or ssling. This post has been edited by blindbox: Oct 13 2007, 10:29 PM

QUOTE(isMEheNG @ Oct 16 2007, 04:51 PM) Thanks for info I'm new in flashing 3rd party firmware on router~ Is is the steps are 1.) Press reset 2.)Flash 3rd party firmware 3.)Press reset again? You don't need to reset. The first step is flash to mini version, then flash to standard version. That's it you're good to go (applies to v4 and below ONLY). Check your router version on your router's bottom. Added on October 16, 2007, 5:07 pmQUOTE(gsan @ Oct 16 2007, 02:11 PM) you mean by press and hold the button behind the router? I only do restore to factory setting before and after flashing. Do a power cycle, it should clear off all your memory if rebooting doesn't work(strange it doesn't, heh). Power cycle is when you switch off the ac power for 5 minutes, and then turn back on. This post has been edited by blindbox: Oct 16 2007, 05:07 PM

QUOTE(gsan @ Oct 25 2007, 02:36 PM) v23 SP2, tried v24 RC3/4 before but due memory leak, I flashed it to v23 SP2. No problem on v24 RC4 for me. You probably didn't switch your router off/clean NVRAM after flashing it, as older versions might have the memory leak and it got transferred (those pesky loop commands might still be running ya know). About Tomato, I tried it before, didn't like it much. Lacks certain functions which is extremely useful for me. Plus dd-wrt has a broader hardware range. Btw, I can never be sure whether QoS (for both firmwares) even works or not. I must say cFosSpeed works well with its QoS, loving it. Playing counter-strike with low pings while torrent is on full speed. This post has been edited by blindbox: Oct 31 2007, 01:27 PM

QUOTE(gsan @ Nov 2 2007, 12:58 PM) for the IP Filter Settings, Both of the TCP Timeout & UDP Timeout, what does it mean if I increase or decrease its value? Exactly what it means. If you increase the TCP timeout value, your TCP connection would take x seconds of no connectivity for it to remove it from the list. For information on what TCP and UDP is, check out google, wiki, etc please. Pretty rare to find people who doesn't know what timeout means.

QUOTE(gsan @ Nov 2 2007, 07:43 PM) erm... what about if changing these value will affect the BT speed? Ever heard of the 5 days bug? It took 5 days to timeout on TCP and UDP on the original firmware, which then lags the hell out of the router and you would need to power cycle to bring it back to normal. Anyway, try reading the help file will ya? dd-wrt has a good documentation on the firmware itself. It is on the right side of every page on the router website. QUOTE(-pWs- @ Nov 22 2007, 04:37 AM) I having issue playing dota. At 1st, the game is very smooth. But suddenly, i just got disconnection. FYI. My line still up without dc. Anybody know why?? Try checking for packet loss. Other than that, I have no idea. I suggest everyone should try bypassing their routers, in other words, troubleshoot before telling your problem here.
