QUOTE(mtxx @ Nov 27 2012, 07:58 PM) Android 4.2.1 coming soon. This time my nexus is 100% no mod. Fully stock. Hope won't have issues with ota. Any info on what kind of updates? As far as I can tell, it fixes the December bug and some stuff related to Nexus 4 and 10. Shame they didn't fix the notifications. The current left-right setup on AOSP 4.2 is so stupid!! Just got the 4.2.1 update via OTA. That's right, an OTA update within 24 hours of the release. First time in history that has happened for me. Usually have to wait 2 or 3 days. Google must really love their December!! O_O

QUOTE(gin&tonic @ Nov 28 2012, 09:34 AM) Anyway to update OTA without loosing root? Tried Voodoo Rootkeeper without success last update. Sadly, I don't know any method other than Voodoo OTA RootKeeper. It's important to note that the dev says you need to turn CWM's signature verification off for it to work. I must disclaim that I've never tried this method before, though. If my device is rooted (like my previous GalNex) then I'm definitely on a custom ROM, in which case it just makes more sense to wait a few days for an updated image from the ROM dev. My Nexus 7 has been stock since I got it. Some people say that Voodoo only works if you're running a rooted device with stock AOSP ROM, stock kernel and no modified root config files. Seen a lot of users complaining it didn't work if they had custom ROMS or kernels installed. No idea if this is true, it's just what I read on other sites/forums. QUOTE(chaukeng @ Nov 28 2012, 11:09 AM) If I OTA update,I will lose my root but all my data will remain right? I'm still on 4.1 BTW. Yes. You'll lose root and custom recovery you have installed. Your data will remain, but I'm not 100% sure about the data saved by apps that require root, or configs that you might have edited under root (like build.prop). Again, this only applies to rooted devices running stock Android and the stock kernel.

QUOTE(jonjon87 @ Dec 5 2012, 11:48 PM) Anyone else using your N7 naked? My N7 gonna turn 1 week old, and its still naked lol. I have a soft pouch for when I bring it out, but other than that it's naked most of the time. No screen condom, no hard case, no nothing. All I do is wipe the screen with a microfiber cloth (the ones you get free at spectacle shops) once in a while. So far (touchwood) not a scratch, and it even fell down a couple of times (the stupid charging cable is too short), been having mine since late July.
